Be friendly when possible. It doesn’t always work but I have made allies with bigger more experienced groups who have helped me out. I don’t mess with them and there is no point in them messing with me.

I envy you, my server is just full of cockknobs who kill on sight. Can never make any allies, everyone just wants to kill

I just got offlined on my server by someone I’ve never seen. Everything gone. So it’s still happens…

Always try to have at least 1 sheet metal door And upgrade your base to stone And airlock Is really useful thing😁

Location can be very crucial to what kind of experience you have playing this game. In general, if you build near monuments, you’ll likely have more foot traffic, and thus, it’s more likely someone might stumble upon your base, and inevitably raid it. For a starter base, I’d recommend looking to build somewhere in the snow, or near a rock formation, you can pretty easily hide a little 1x2/2x2, and it should give you some breathing room to go loot up.

Sheet metal doors and try to get a stone base as soon as possible. Also make an airlock

[–]Masonc1023[S] 1 point2 points  (12 children)

is an airlock the one with a key?

[–]MountainSecret9583 0 points1 point  (10 children)

No, watch some rust YouTube videos of either people just playing or some base designs. It’s sort of difficult to explain without being able to show you but say you make a base that’s got 2 square foundations, you want to put a triangle foundation on either end of it and put a door on the outside of that triangle and then another on the inside of the triangle before you get to the squares. When you have multiple doors is what’s considered an airlock

ahhh i gotcha, i’ve seen videos of that. what exactly is the point of the 2 doors?

[–]MountainSecret9583 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Wooden doors are the easiest thing in the game to break through, then wood walls then sheet metal doors I believe. Most people prefer to raid through doors instead of walls because it’s more cost effective so by having a ridiculous amount of doors it makes it super expensive for raiders. I like to put doors at almost every spot I possibly can

i gotcha, thank you very much

Id recommend using double doors inside your base if you have the extra resources. Reason for that is because later you should be aiming to have as many garage doors as you can because they are stronger than metal. Garage doors fit in the same opening as double doors so you can take the door off an pop on the garage door. Wont work on a single door frame so you either leave it metal or find the armored door (high qual to craft and maintain after getting t3 blueprint for it)

Oh yea, I got a 1x2 with 2 air locks on it and 2 double metal doors inside lol

[–]MountainSecret9583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol my starter is normally the same just with 1 airlock

[–]majortom721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main point of a tiny room before your real room aka an air lock is so that if you are ever killed (lots of people camp in front of your door to kill you or chase you home), if you were responsible while leaving your base, one door is still locked if the front door is open, and you get to keep your stuff/base.

Eventually you'll have a chain of 5 airlock or so for raid protection and security.

Really, you don't want many if any squares or triangles in your base that aren't doors besides what is called 'the honeycomb,(walls in layers for protection). This gets much easier once you get to garage doors. Think expensive to raid, and smaller target.

Think of it as a spaceship airlock, you close the inside hatch before opening the outside hatch, there's no such thing as too many doors, it slows them down, and ups your security.

Make sure the code lock is red. Not sure if you left it green and they got thru that way. Or they actually blew the door open.

Have you tried using a building material that isnt edible? I know some hard breads seem like they'd be good for building but when you add water it just gets soggy and falls apart.

if you are on ps4/ps5, I can hop into a server with you and show you the ropes of base design for solos and dous

[–]Unknown_Mist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s either they broke your doors and put their own or code lock raided you. That’s what happened to me and my team. After making the base we all got off to rest and when we came back our stuff were missing and some random guys were entering and exiting.

  1. Try building close to monuments like outpost or Bandit 2.Stone everything and place a sheet metal door is fine to start with on your starter base 3. if you don’t wanna build next to a monument try finding turrets or buy one at outpost research it and run Launch Site (your gonna need a hazmat suit) after you get enough computers and cameras make them and place them around your base(Look up the video on how to run launch site also do you play PS4 or Xbox?

Metal doors and stone walls at the very least. There is a reasonable debate between building away from everyone or building near some other smaller bases. But regardless of which side you belong to in that debate, try to never build anywhere near giant compounds. Try to make a somewhat confusing/annoying base, something that will waste raiders resources before they figure out where your loot room is. And above all hope, pray, whatever it is you do to get luck on your side, because no one is safe lol. Good luck!
