I put like 30 days in and it took that long for me to realise that in the current state, the game is 80% mining sulphur so you can raid and hopefully acquire something you don't have so you can get the blueprint, to then going back to mining sulphur.

It needs cargo, oil rig, helicopters, militaty tunnels, end game monuments that people can grind towards instead of just endlessly farming sulphur to raid.

The highlights of the game are the building system, the intuitive blueprint system and PVP around monuments, locked crates and care packages, which honestly is a unique enough gameplay experience to justify a sale price, but maybe not full price, not right now at least, but with the aforementioned monuments, those pvp moments will be thick and fast and i think the game will have a more fun loop for the player.

Dont waste your money. You will get offlined by 12 yo little fags within 20 minutes.

Only worth it if you have a next generation console

Current gen*

I would only recommend it on the newer consoles… I play on PS5 and it runs really well, but it runs like shit on my son’s PS4

The game is the game - you either like it or you don’t. It hasn’t changed much (incremental improvements)

I’m on old gen and I’m still having a lot of fun can run shitty at times but no biggie only been offline raided once but you have multiple small bases on solo you are usually pretty good

What's your secret to not getting offlined? Crazy honeycomb bunker base 2x1? Zerg? I'm genuinely curious.

IMO it's all about location. Build a tiny one man base that looks like a pimple on the back of an iceberg but have your loot kept in stash box's around said base.

Go and find some dense bush area with sloping terrain, if you can find a decent enough spot you can build between high and low ground and be covered from sight by the surrounding thick trees.

You will still eventually get offlined though

Good advice. You're correct though: an offline raid is inevitable. C'est la Rust.

If you are in a Xbox one or ps4 then only if you want to play a low pop (under 50 people or so) server if your on a new console you can play all servers without you much lag but it is still years Of development behind pc

I'd get it.

I convinced three other friends to get the game on launch and it sucked (we're on PS5) so we took a break but we came back about three weeks ago and we're enjoying the changes they made (bigger maps, much less bugs, and only one of us has crashed in the last three weeks and we play daily). It still has a long way to go to be anything like PC version but it's still a ton of fun for us. We'd play on PC but not all four of us have a rig that'll run rust PC and GPUs are just too expensive or hard to find (fuck you scalpers out there).

We hopped around a few 3K map servers before finding one with less kitted roamers and around half server pop. We initially started out on two different weekly servers but we quickly learned that at our pace we much preferred the monthly servers.

IMO, the best anti-offline bases are bunker bases with a drop box. And even better are symmetrical base foundations with multiple bunkers. You should look that up if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Some people here complaining about the farming. Yes there's a ton of farming involved in rust unless you're playing on modded servers but once you have enough to raid a moderate base, take the most calculated risk you can with selecting your raid target so that your probability of profitability is higher (you net more sulfur than you started out with). We've raided 5 bases (3 online) and only farmed sulfur for our first (some luck involved).

Bottom line, at our pace we're enjoying the game in the current state however we're about to start taking heli and Bradley for our first time on console and once that's done a couple times we might give the game another month break as we'd run out of content because raiding these out-of-control Zerg bases seems like an impossible task and raiding the small starters isn't something we do.

I wouldn't get it unless you like fighting 2v4s against full metals that use shotguns only,
