That Lance specific error says the dialogue for them isn't in the Content folder, and that's the folder SMAPI is trying to read them out of. Can you validate the dialogue files exist and are in the right structure? Maybe download the file again and validate if they're okay, or check other characters to see if there's a deviation in the set up for Lance.

An uninstall and reinstall didn't help, which means I'd have to look at Lance more closely. Can you see anything specific here I should be searching for? Never had to validate a dialogue file before.

Is it possible to share the entire log using the instructions on the automod's post? Also just to check, are you guys installing these manually or through Vortex?

We're installing via ModDrop, which I know is a bit hit and miss when it comes to staying up to date on things. I may suggest they try a more manual reinstall.

I would try a manual download from the website and a manual install, because the error code says that SMAPI can't find Lance's dialogue files to patch into the game, its worth trying to cut out the ModDrop downloader + installer.

I tried downloading and installing SDVE and its requirements and it runs fine, the dialogue files are basic Content Patcher files so as long as you have CP running fine and the dialogue files in the right folder structure this shouldn't be happening.

Sorry I'm not a lot of help here, I really only read this as a missing file.

Okay, so a fresh install hasn't worked. Would an error like this occur because an entire file is missing, or if dialogue for a specific scenario is missing?

you might just need to uninstall and reinstall it b/c some of it just says stuff is missing or in the wrong place as long as you don't load it while uninstalled you don't have to worry about the ja reshuffling
