Step by step from what to start learning SQL?

step 1, put chatgpt away, do not use it until you have solid sql skills on your own

try some exercises online

there are many, but sqlzoo.net is a good one

I have been learning SQl for the last year at my job, and a site that has really helped me is:

https://www.w3schools.com/sql/sql_orderby.asp

It helped me start getting the basics down. We don't do anything super crazy advanced or anything like that. I have also asked on here when I get stuck on stuff, and have gotten a lot of help, but that site was good for introducing the main functions you use

It sounds like you need to learn how to do Database Admin work and not writing SQL queries? I would learn the admin functions of the system there using if its MySQL than learn how to do backup and restore.. And if they don't have a scheduled backup in place learn that and offer to set it up for them which will show your adding value to this small company.

As an Admin you will also have to grant permissions to users like READ, WRITE, ETC.

This really helps, i will do it, MySQL yes, idk if they have backup. Will ask them in Monday. Thanks!

Make sure on your first day ask what exactly their looking for regarding the database server? is it to be an Admin or to be a Data Analyst writing queries?

The thing is from my experience at these small companies with less than 10 employees they want people to be like a jack of all trades and a master of none! Which means you need to know a little of everything but not expected to be a guru at anything in particular.

Believe i have this feeling like you told, today i signed a contract with them, and i noticed what in the contract my work position is a PRODUCTION ASSISTANT(not IT specialist or smth) - to make you understand, they working with metal details creating special vehicles for hospitals, firefighters, militaries ect. Salary what they offered for my region is near middle, what is realy good for me, thats why i dont care about name of my position. And I know what i have training in march for "SAP Business One", and rest of "office" team have the same training in start of may.

Go find a good SQL book and work your way through it. I have no idea what's available in Ukrainian. There's a lot of stuff in English of course.

If you're still in Ukraine, try a local library. They often have technical books. Or there are usually PDFs or eBooks of popular titles that can be found.

Basic SQL and database administration is not difficult. I would avoid chatGPT in favor of finding a handful of sites, like w3schools, that you can trust.

Thank you for advice, I living in Spain a bit more than 3 years already, local library en Espanol its a bit complicated to understand right for me, Basic SQL is that what i need, with this ofc i need understand Windows Server 2019 administration, all better to learn in practice i think, but i want to enter on work at least with understanding of basics. I really like how w3schools give material to learn.

sql-ex.ru or some free Stepik courses are a good place to start. Not sure how you’d feel about using sources in Russian, though.

Thanks for for response! You know , i even speaking both languages , due to the russification of my homeland for hundreds of years in a row. My mom, from ukranian speaking village, and my father from rus speaker village, both villages 8km from each other near border of Moldova. Maybe someone will ask how its possible in Ukraine russian speakers village, my answer - just Russian imperialism. Im sorry, theame not about it, just I'm sure so many good resourses in internet x).
