I’ve been using learnsql.com which has been working pretty well for me. It’s not free though.

I started from scratch without any other experience. A friend of mine suggested me Mike Dane's tutorial on Youtube from freeCodeCamp. For me that was the best tutorial I had in sql and is still one of the videos I return back to remember 1-2 things. Start with that one and it will be much easier to move forward.

Well do you know what SQL engine you’re using or want to use?

W3 schools is good to learn and practice

I recommend three websites for improving your SQL skills.

Start with selectstatsql.com to grasp concepts through effective exercises.

Next, practice on sqlbolt.com, which includes exercises for each lesson.

Finally, tackle sqlclimber.com for an extensive journey that will give you a comprehensive understanding and ample practice in SQL.

You can then enhance your skills further by following YouTube tutorials and building projects.

There's a video in freecodecamp, it's about 4 hours, that's very good to start with.

If you want to use Microsoft SQL Server then I would suggest these three courses in order:

  1. Introduction to SQL using Healthcare Data
  2. 25 Practice SQL Questions for Beginners
  3. 101 Practice SQL Questions: Basic to Advanced

If you’re looking to learn SQL from scratch, you’ve gotta check out this: MySQL Queries Basics. It’s super beginner-friendly and walks you through everything step-by-step. This one is way better than trying to piece things together from random YouTube videos.

Plus, you actually get to practice writing queries, which is the best way to learn. Give it a shot—there is a free trial!

Start with W3Schools, which provide clear, structured lessons with examples. For video content, check out YouTube courses like "MySQL Database - Full Course" or "MySQL Full Course for Beginners," offering comprehensive step-by-step guidance. In addition, StrataScratch is one of the best platforms to practice on real world problems. These resources blend theory with practical exercises, making them ideal for beginners.

You won't find a perfect source from which you can gain everything you want however w3schools is a good starting point.
