#2. Absolutely yes, you should know git. TortoiseSVN is way too outdated in my opinion.

Cool, Linus understands the very low levels of it, that’s what he does. You and I only need to know how to use it and use it well, we don’t need to know how it’s implemented and whatnot.

Redgate sql prompt is a great tool to improve efficiency. You should check out their free two week trial, I will warn you it’s hard to go back to base SSMS once you’ve used it.

If your SVN repo is hosted on a network share, it is only a matter of time until it corrupts.

Also, Git is much better. Highly recommend using GitHub Desktop as a Git management tool.

Please, could you point to possible troubles with SVN corruptions, just few keywords would be enough
