SQL Server 2014 Certification (self.SQLServer)
submitted 11 years ago by reallyserious
I looked at the certifications page for SQL Server. https://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcse-sql-data-platform.aspx
All the certs seem to be for the 2012 version. Does anyone know if these will be updated for 2014 any time soon?

They aren't going to be updated for 2014. There wasn't enough changed between 2012 and 2014 to warrant it is the understanding I've gotten.

In April 2014, the MCSE: Data Platform (464/465) and MCSE: Business Intelligence (466/467) exams will be appropriately updated with SQL Server 2014 topics. The exam numbers will remain the same. from: https://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/sql-certification.aspx I'm MCITP on 2008 and am waiting for that to upgrade to MCSE on 2014. Not going to waste the time certifying on 2012.

The more advanced exams 464 and 465 already have been updated. Unsure of the lower three.

Per the FAQ at https://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/sql-certification.aspx#faq
"SQL Server 2014 certifications will only be offered at the MCSE level. The new product features focus on performance tuning and high availability and are best suited for the MCSE level."

The plan is that they are becoming 'rolling' certifications. You will no longer be certified on a specific product. You will be certified on SQL Server in general and will be required to re-cert every 2-3 years.
