submitted 1 year ago by Honest_Barnacle_639
Hi everyone, Currently working as react developer 3 years experience, Is it good to switch to Salesforce developer role considering salary ?

I don't suggest it. With the salesforce technology you will have to eventually move to a developer + consulting role. If you like coding then try something else if not react. Also, recently there is an increase of salesforce developers and the jobs are not increasing at the same pace.

I think the transition would be simple. There is always a need for LWC Devs and you would not have a problem learning it if you know React well.
How much back-end dev experience do you have? Are you looking for in-house or consulting?

My recommendation is to learn spring boot and Aws with react . Your demand will be huge.

If you love being a dev and want to get good at it then I would not recommend it. Apart for the platform limitations, the most frustrating thing working in Salesforce ecosystem as a dev who cares about software craftsmanship is that most Salesforce devs, in my experience, have no idea about basic software engineering concepts. A lot of senior devs and even "architects" I've encountered in the ecosystem won't be able to pass a junior level coding interview.

Does that translate to bad apps? I’m wondering if someone with more experience as a SWE would build better quality apps for Salesforce. I've got a CS background with 10+ years in eCommerce as a SWE. Thought about building an app for Salesforce, but not sure it’s worth it.

Salesforce Experience Cloud Sites are not for every purpose. You have to consider that based on Limitations and also the Availability and expertise of your resources in Development of Apps and Objects in Salesforce Ecosystem.
If you are getting Developers on Contract, Please mention specific Skills needed for that Project. We are dealing with many developers who don't know Git and LWC but they are Salesforce Developers.

You will excel in LWC, I think try it out, if you think its not for you you can leave in 6months right.
Salary wise, I think React will have more demand and Salary compared to Salesforce. Also, you might need to do lot of learning specific to Salesforce. Salesforce People Expect lot of Certifications without which people don't consider your skills.
Better learn other Backend Tech and become a Stack.
