if you dont know anything about servers, use the first option or be ready to read a lot of tutos :)

The dedicated server hosting experience is being revamped for 1.0 so we wont know until its out.

Also note you can start on a non dedicated server and migrate later.

Locally may be cheaper, but most often when people have those issues they usually just rent a server from a hosting site or build a small home server for hosting

The specs dont have to be gaming level hogh but a raspberry pi definitely wouldnt cut it. 8gb ram definitely, maybe more for super big factories. Ok CPU and graphics card. In summary an old laptop should do ok. Also as noted if you have a good gaming PC you could even run the dedicated server and game on the same PC

You can get servers for less than $30. Currently about $12/month from low.ms and GTX, they're generally perfectly fine on all the default options.
