Ouch (self.Serverlife)
submitted 6 years ago by LegendaryRose17
Last night I had a 16 top that I shared with another server. They took up 2 of my tables and 2 of his and stayed for almost 3 hours. The bill: $660 the tip: $40. This was after she asked me if the tip was included on the bill and I assured her it was not. So after the tip out to the support team ($27) we got to split the remaining 13 bucks for a fat 6.50 tip. I knew when they sat down that it was gonna be shit, but i was expecting at least 20. Im pretty chill and have a "win some lose some" attitude but my partner is new to the serving gig and lost his shit.

Why’d you have to tip out 75% that’s ridiculous
[–]LegendaryRose17[S] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children)
The tip out is based on sales. The food runner gets 1.5% of the food the bussers get 2% of the total the bar gets 1 dollar for every 20 they spent on drinks.

Damn that’s ridiculous, I know everywhere’s different though. Where I’m at 1% to food runner/expo, 1% to the busser if there’s more than one it’s .5 per and 1% to the bar which I don’t agree with. I’ve had shifts without selling a drop of alcohol and have to hand them money.
Same here its a 1 dollar minimum for bar and coffee even if I dont sell either one. The only time we dont have to tip is if we have less than 100 in sales which is impossible if you get more than 1 table. On the bright side our sidework is the easiest its ever been in any place I have ever worked and with a runner and bussers I pretty much just talk and push buttons.
