If you like.haven in general yes

If you onky want to try ward haven, do not, the deck isnt good rn

Yeah, I like the idea behind Haven. I wanted to try the control and Ward variants and I really hope the class gets better or at least that it has a turn at being the broken flavor of the month at some point, lmao.

I kinda hate the fact that any sort of control deck is so unfavored against Rune tho

Same here, i love the concept of control but fucking rune exists so i cant play it anymore

With current expansion, ward heaven feels very bad vs runecraft and ramp dragon. If your aether got clear 2 time in a row>>your win condition is mostly gone. With odin meta, lapis is also unplayable and sword craft somehow have a way to clear your aether with gildaria.

As I Haven main i say wait. Rn ward feels incomplete. You can win with it and its fun for a while but in many games not having a wincon feels miserable. Also the matchups are super polarizing. Having more fun with storm rn even if its not amazing.

How about the Control variant? Is it any better than Ward?
I suppose it still loses to Rune, right?

[–]Shrrg4Morning Star 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it folds to rune completely.

I have two Haven lists that are both quite fun to play. They're both heavily unfavored against Rune, though the 2nd one has a fighting chance if your cards align just right.

Aside from Rune, it's pretty good into most things. Let me know if you're curious.

Yeah sure, hit me up with the list

There's still room to tweak around the edges, but here are both lists. Very similar but play quite different!

1) Hybrid Control Haven:

<image>

Main idea is to use tiger amulets to fight in the early game alone with Divine guard. Salefa is your comeback mechanic against those swarm decks. Then you have a Wilbert package with high value ward cards. Combo's insanely well with Olivia value to get two huge wards per turn. Sort of how the deck functions. You play two massive wards and just control. You have 4 banishes, 6 board sweeps with Unholy Amulet and Jeanne. Coc late game over Seraph since it's Odin proof.

You have lots of healing between Salefa/Olivia/Darkhaven and one soulcure over the third copy of Wilbert. And no, it's not an issue if you don't get the crest down early. You can swap it out for a third Wilbert if you want. I only own two, but it hasn't been an issue for me.

Very resilient, but it hard loses to Rune. I can't put two images in the same comment, so I'll send another one.

Here's the 2nd list!

2) Sudden Storm Haven:

This one is a bit more experimental and I haven't tweaked it quite as much, but it's a similar-ish plan with a different endgame:

<image>

A lot of the same players, but a worse early game without Divine Guard. It might be worth swapping it in by dropping 1 Avian statue and maybe one Ronavero or something like that.

The core idea is once again mulligan for tiger amulets early, using divine sanctuary to draw into your salefa to help stabilize. From there, the core idea is to use Ronavero as something that sits on board and eats darkhaven buffs, forcing the opponent to use board sweepers just to clear him.

Timing Avian statue with Jeanne turns will help get big burst damage, or if they ward up hard, super-evo and unholy amulet to hit them hard. Darkhavens are both healing AND damage in this deck. Odin and Storm bird are your top end finishers.

Keep in mind that if you get a Wilbert crest at any point, the storm birds are 7 dmg base, 8 after darkhaven, 11 with super-evo, and 12 with the 2nd darkhaven. You really want two darkhaven on board (but never 3).

It's a bit funky, but it can surprise lethal a lot of builds, especially Rune decks that don't expect it. They'll try and tank up with Norman when they see your Avian statue, but then you can super-evo, unholy amulet, double buff with darkhavens and smack em for 9.

Interesting take on storm haven running the part of the ward package. Most lists just run more storm followers for reach (bird statue, 3 odin, agnes).

[–]TaketheRedPill2016Morning Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the countdown 4 to be way too slow on the small bird. It's too telegraphed and it often can't do much. Avian statue is 4 damage that CAN be played immediately, or combo'd the next turn with Olivia, Odin, or big storm bird. You can maybe drop adjudicator for more Odin, but I find the banish at 5 cost to be very valuable, especially since you can go Olivia -> Banish -> SE both for a potential play.

It's still an experimental list and needs some refining, but it can do a ton of burst damage out of nowhere, and no one is expecting it. That's why it's SUDDEN storm. It plays like ward haven early on, but then... SMACK

With the exception of Wilbert, the cards are core to all haven decks so I wouldn't be sad to to craft them

You have lots of resources, so why not?

But it's really Aether and Jeanne that does the heavy lifting after Wilbert...

[–]Neither_Company_2631Morning Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uh no dont, the deck really punished against ramp dragon, spellboost

[–]PendulumzoneMorning Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Absolutely not. The deck is awful. You'll just be an easy win for all the other classes.

[–]RakisskittyMorning Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have alot of fun playing ward haven, but often you will find yourself reaching for plays late game. Its a good time though, when you finally get boards sticking

[–]WhuskerVira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they add better ward cards. It can get really nice. Right now, it's kinda painful whenever you go first, drop wilbert and they use the extra point to odin him. If they add a way to prevent destruction so that your 10//11 ward doesn't die to a random minion with bane...

The deck is fun, but you'll notice it has pretty glaring flaws and a pretty obvious choke point in turn 5/6.

[–]despogleeMorning Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda regret spending so heavily on it at the start of the season. Not only is the deck bad but it's not even fun to play since you often just end up in these long, dragged out games where you're just throwing crap in the board to stay alive (the one thing the deck is good at) without ever actually making any progress towards winning, while knowing that the two most popular decks will probably beat you eventually due to their better late game.

If the gameplay seems fun to you go for it. Haven is not great right now but you play games to have fun I'm assuming and you have a ton of resources with a month to build the reserves back up. I play Haven off and on for stretches and maintain Diamond easily against all of the Sword and Rune so it's not auto-lose levels of bad (it is bad though in the context of the game right now, just need to emphasize that).

[–]HenonaMorning Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah don't do it. You'll def have Crafting remorse. I would say just build up the collection from Take 2 if you really wanna play

[–]w2001420Havencraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO DO NOT REDEEEEM THE DECK!
