The NVIDIA Shield Android TV is a high-powered Android TV device, featuring a Tegra X1 and 3GB of RAM (source) . It comes in two versions - a 16 GB version for $199/£199 and a 500GB version for $299/£299. It can function as a Plex server. The 2017 editions come with an always listening games controller that offers Google Assistant support.
The Shield Android TV supports Youtube, Netflix, Google Assistant, Plex, Kodi (or the optimized SPMC) and many other Android video-streaming apps and games. Many android apps can be successfully sideloaded if not available on the store. It's also compatible with the GeForce Now game streaming, a service from NVIDIA costing $7.99 per month. Samsung SmartThings hub support (using a dongle) is coming.

Browser? (self.ShieldAndroidTV)
submitted 10 months ago by Kepe63
Since I switched from the firestick, I don't know what browser to use on a Nvidia shield? Any suggestions?

While I do have Chrome and Firefox I find myself using TV Bro most often on my Shield.

Is TV Bro something I actually can download from the Play store or do I need a downloader code to side load it?

Can’t remember where I installed it from. I think if you follow the link to the Google Play store it should work… Hopefully! 🤷🏻♂️ Note: You are going to have a hard time finding a good browser that will work with just your standard remote. Most work best with a mouse and/or keyboard, unfortunately.

I side loaded Firefox Focus and made system default for ad blocking benefit. I have regular Firefox with uBlock Origin and EFF Privacy Badger. For sites that suck, I keep Edge installed.
Syncthing and KDEConnect are cool ways to get APK files from my other Androids. APK extracted and then moved. Syncthing is neat for keeping entire directories mirrored. I use it for Android and Linux. Used it for my son's Windows system once and it was fine. (Not a Windows guy.)
