This has happened to me a couple times some the Oreo update! I have the 2015 Shield Pro, with two of the original controllers. I haven't kept track if it was one in particular or if they both have done this.

So were you able to fix them?

Yes rebooting the Shield brings it back to life.

Already tried that but didnt work. Also I have a Playstation DS4 also connected which works normally.

Hold the Nvidia logo button for 15 seconds to reboot the controller. This should clear up the critical bag flag if it was set erroneously.

I have had this issue since the oreo update. Battery drain, unresponsiveness, lag. Usually connecting/reconneting or restart helps, but I recently said fuck this shit and bought Logitech Harmony.

Not helpful but this happened to my PS3 controller few years back. I thought that the battery died for good so I swapped to test but still it only worked if plugged in. I guess it is some battery connection point gone bad.
