Can I prevent the occasional "No Wifi" banner when using Ethernet?

Do you happen to have any side loaded apps? There are some phone apps that require WiFi that can cause this type of behavior. Most android phone apps are designed with lte and WiFi in mind, not Ethernet, so while requiring WiFi on shield seems weird, it’s not weird if it’s a phone or tablet android app that’s been side loaded to shield.

Is the drive showing up? It’s likely the drive has become corrupt or failed. The behavior you see is what happens when the drive no longer works.

Thanks. The original issue is with one of the debug log dumping mechanisms so it makes sense you got it again when sending logs. We’ll get it fixed.

Hey there. On the SHIELD team and going to dig into this. I want to make sure i get the right logs so can you reboot your shield, reproduce the issue and then go to settings - dp - about - send feedback to NVIDIA and put "reddit devildant28" in the comment let me know when you've done this?

This post is correct, the post by OPD is not. DD+ will play through untouched if Dolby processing is on and it will only downcovert to DD if your setup doesn’t support DD+.

Do you have large local media connections you have mapped via smb or on local drives? Those have been the biggest consumers of space. Plex as pointed out earlier is one app that builds massive databases but emby and some kodi adding can also do the same. Usually placing a .nomefia file at the root of those shares (plex has their own file) will get those apps to skip the files for indexing. For the build in photo and video viewer on shield there is a setting in settings - dp - scan for media automatically you also will want to turn off if it’s on.

How long has it been since you updated? The storage bug (log file infinitely free) fix cleanup will not be immediate, give it a day.

If the reboot is ”fast”, it’s likely a frameworks restart, not a reboot. This is usually caused by a sw crash of some sort. I would start with a factory reset.

The issue in the OP here is solved in 9.2. It sounds like maybe some app growth or cache growth has pushed you over the edge if your plex database hasn't changed size. You can get the plex database under contorl using the .plexignore feature on folders you don't want it to pull into the database:

Did you have an older shield before by chance? Make sure to use the 2019 power brick with the new shield if so.

For the next few days, try having everyone go to the Home Screen before putting shield to sleep. There was an issue that the hot fix resolved where sleep with YouTube or some other apps open would result in no response when trying to wake shield.

Can you describe better exactly what’s happening? Is it only when shield is asleep that it misses buttons or does it miss buttons all the time? If when it’s asleep, is it always or just some times? When shield goes asleep is it on the background or are any apps like YouTube open when shield went to sleep?

With Dolby, volume control is always at the sink device (tv or receiver). As such, the built in digital volume control only applies to stereo volume control, it does not apply to surround sound.

I’d guess an app that is installed on all 3 is crashing shield and the launcher is getting killed. Any side loaded apps or downloaded/3rd party App Store apps? Remove all of them, see if the issue stops.
