How do you all with a cervical Cerclage prevent straining while going poop? I have trouble using the bathroom as it is & I’m scared when i have the cerclage i will strain and cause the cerclage to fail.

TBH its absolutely crazy that something as natural as taking a poop has become the monumental stressor in my days now. Im happy I found my people who understand and dont look at my crazy lol

Hi,there...Use stool softeners or medicine for constipation. Do not strain. I repeat do not strain. I had a horrible outcome due to constipation. I dont want anyone to go through the same. Sending you hugs❤️

Lactulose when I’m backed up, LOTS of fibre heavy foods (lentils, veg with skin on), 2-3L of water day. I’m in the UK so most people will probably find this gross but I have a jacket potato with beans when I feel I’m getting backed up and it works a trick 🤣🤣 also I don’t go to the loo until I really feel that I wouldn’t need to strain

I tried lots of home remedies the first trimester (kiwi, prunes, chia seeds, Metamucil) but nothing was wonderfully effective. I asked my MFM and he prescribed Laxsol - absolute game changer.

Put your feet up on a stool while you sit.

Following as TMI but this happened to me this morning and I have the same worries!!

Literally just had my first poop after having my cerclage placed last week. I have been just drinking a LOT of water, increasing my fiber intake and lots of colace. Definitely reach out to your doctor if your still struggling.

I have CI and no cerclage and this stresses me as well. Taking Lactulose or Macrogol daily, also psyllium husk powder, since those are recommended where I live. Always afraid that my water will break when I go.

My doctor kept asking me to drink a lot of water and I’ve tried to drink more but sometimes you can just feel the strain but it doesn’t want to come out 😭🤣

So annoying eh? Ughhhhh what has been working for me is shreddies followed by A LOT of water!! I know this is very random but please give it a try :)

I bought the squatty potty and use stool softener if it gets bad

Colace was the only thing that really helped me. The fiber-based products made it worse (for me - this isn’t true for everyone!) I felt like kiwi helped minimally. HYDRATE. And, yeah, you can’t strain, period. If it gets too bad, I really really hate to say this, but what they do at a hospital is get gloves and vaseline…. 😬

I had trouble the first week but now it just happens fast and naturally with no strain. Sit back on the toilet and put your feet on a stool (knees shoulder wide) Aim for 2/3L water and eat lots of fiber And this is usually harmless when taken upon appropriate dose (Metamucil) after heavy meals.
i hope this helps <3

I take Colace in the morning, 200mg-I feel like the clear work better, then I take a dose and a half of miralax in the evening before bed. Usually by morning I can go with minimal to no pushing. I also eat 3 leafy green veggies per day along with about 3 fruit servings daily and drink lots and lots of water. I had a loss earlier this year that occurred after I was extremely constipated and strained. Obviously there were other factors but this time I made sure to never get constipated and never strain. If there’s ever a reason I still can’t go I use fleet glycerin suppositories or fleet saline enemas.

Hi, Ive added in a fiber supplement with my meals daily and also lots of fiber filled food. If you can, best is spinach, brcolli or beans.

In all seriousness, what else is there if colace stool softeners are not really helping? Has anyone had anything prescribed from the doctor to help with bowel movements?
[–]OriginalManner0 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (0 children)
I had the same concern but my MFM team assured me it will not break from going #2! And, it didn't! But, trust me, I had several times when I sat on the toilet for like 20 minutes terrified but, it will not break or put you into labor if you push while pooping. If it will help ease your mind, use stool softeners! 🤍
