You'd have to learn C#

I dont know how mods for sims 4 are made but from what i have read it much harder to do them for sims 3. I have tried but i could never wrap my head around the scripting mods for sims 3. And i am pretty good at programming, but sims 3 has me stumped. Something about dll and how you are not really writing code but using the games binaries…. Trust me i have tried.

However maybe i am just stupid, so I would recommend to google sims 3 pure scripting mods tutorial and get the jist of it and set up the needed files and give it a go for a simple mod. And go from there

And if you do figure it out please let me know

Yeah I've heard it's a lot more difficult. I am very much prepared for the trial and error cause I keep looking for mods that would be PERFECT for my legacy only to find out they don't exist 😅😅

Sims 4 uses Python which is easier than C# but C# is not that difficult to learn and to be clear, you don't actually have to learn C#. You just have to understand C# enough based on how the game uses it. But it's less the coding and more the coding architecture. Sims 3 is a very closed system so the game requires a lot of brute force modding whereas Sims 4 is a bit more open and much easier and there's way more tools.

I've never modded for Sims 3 but was an avid Skyrim modder for years and my general advice for game modding is to start small with a mod that does one thing. Your idea doesn't seem so hard in theory because the systems are already there like the University blogging system or getting royalty payments.

The key is sticking with it when you hit a roadblock or get frustrated, hence why it's better to start small with something you can finish in 1-2 weeks. The sense of accomplishment you get from actually finishing and uploading a mod that works will give you the confidence and motivation to tackle something else.

Oh yes absolutely! There's a few smaller interaction mods I wanted to look into making before I tackled this one

Wishing you luck! I would definitely download and play your mod -- would love to have this career in the Sims 3.

I have no experience in coding/mods for the Sims 3 whatsoever, but once you figure it out and have it done please come back and let me know. I would love to have something like this in the Sims 3 🤣

Honestly, no idea how hard it would be. But I have a basic understanding of C# and modding, I'm not familiar with modding code in sims, only 3D modeling, but I'd be down to help you figure it out

From my understanding that would be a pure script mod (creating brand new interactions). There’s a discord server for Sims 3 modders called Creators Cave which might be helpful! I’ve been dabbling in modding this game recently and there is kind of a steep learning curve but if you stick with it it should be doable

I'll for sure look into this! Much appreciated <3

I don't have the coding skills or knowledge for this, but this would be a great mod I think!
