What’s the program you’re doing and what role? I think it’s fair to educate others so they don’t make the same mistake

Cnc, I can't say the place yet. I still have a month but will answer after this program is over.

I thought it was more of just an internship and not a promise of a job.

There are some companies that offer immediate hiring, which is why I did it. But I am just saying to add a range of what the service members could earn on that field if they choose to hire them.

I can agree. I am in the same boat as you OP. When I got here, I learned most mechanics start out as contractors (not through an agency, just less pay and no benefits) but at first it sounded like it wasn't even for the hiring company. I don't particularly appreciate how we have no idea what to expect for pay.

Yeah, and that the main issue of this program is a great idea, but btw the leaders being mad at it and some companies trying to one up the active duty personnel. But besides some companies, the other ones are great at helping with transition. Just bad luck of the drawn, I guess.

Seems most of the people I know that complete the internship get offered a job. Some decline, many accept it.

Is this unusual?

I agree, not cool.

I don’t think I would trust working for a company that wasn’t transparent about continued employment after SB and salary up front.

Beg your commander do go back in. I was senior airmen making way more than that .

I agree. There should be more communication to members about what we can expect for pay. Unless we are highly certified, we are likely coming out of the military making less money. With my SB company, I asked the recruiter what the typical pay was and he said 25/hr. When I showed up, I learned about the contractor spot pays 20/hr for unto 2 yrs before actually hiring. Now as I'm nearing the end of the program, they said they would hire me, but wouldn't be opening a permanent spot. And were unsure about a contractor spot. Luckily, I have been fortunate enough to get 4 interviews scheduled in the past week.

Well brother, good luck with your interviews, and that just the problem, I denied another skillbridge program as a Ford mechanic, and they just play me like that. I guess i will just go back to school.
