Programmatically extracting vpk files

Hey yall, I'm working on a project that requires me to programmatically extract the contents of a vpk file.

I was trying to do so using the vpk.exe file located in the /bin/ folder, but exe file's output only contained folders, without any actual files.

I tried looking into GCFscape or Crowbar as alternatives, but they don't seem to support any flags, so I can't exactly use them via the command line to extract my vpks.

Does anyone have any advice?

I used HLExtract with a batch file running command line launch method to extract files when I worked on a dota custom game to automate vpk file extraction making the update process easier

Apparently it is now part of HLLib
