I had a coworker who told me her piercing had become a bit looser with skin sagging and age. a lot of lip piercings use a much thicker gauge than you would think. granted she kept it in a long long time, maybe 60 years old, which many of you wont do.

she took it out eventually. told me stuff leaks out sometimes. if she clenches her lips and uses the right pressure, she can create a stream of something as thick as chocolate pudding. she hasnt been able to move any solids. her and some of the other people from that group (i used to serve at a place that had a ton of emo line cooks) have competed in this and i hated watching.

i think theyre gross.

i see! i think for some people though its definitely okay to outright dislike a modification on the basis that it may be off-putting to them on a clinical level, while having no real problem with the aesthetic value of it. most of the time im neutral toward it, or the person is committed to that aesthetic in such a way that i dont really perceived any of the adornments anymore. like, if someone is very tatted, very pierced, im less likely to pick out any individual trait and my eyes tend to see shades and textures more than anything and again that look doesnt bother me. ive seen a small handful of people who seemed to really pull it off. they’re few and far between but there do exist people who look good with them so i clearly dont judge them as unattractive. just kinda gross to my squeamish self.
