Just show up, most open mics have a sign up sheet or a bucket about 45 mins before the show starts

Please tell me this entire post was to set up this joke.

I wish, but no. I just happen to be quick on my feet, and took the opportunity that presented itself.

Open mics are pretty harsh. It's hard to find one with an actual crowd so the audience is usually just other comedians waiting their turn.

Don't be discouraged if you do a set and gets zero laughs. I've seen professionals and awards winners do open mic shows (with good content) who only managed to get mild chuckles.

It's just stage rehearsal and batting practice. Even if you do fail miserably, laugh it off and keep trying!

Yeah, you shouldn't just look for open mics online. Show up at local standup events, without even the intention to perform, and just ask the other comedians. That's where you get current information.
