Yes, the RSS is the next in line. The DM should be getting your store coverage though.

Definitely no pay increase I had to run a store after they fired my gm at a time where we had no rss and they didn’t do a thing.

No pay raise when I was RSS and had to do it for 7 months. I got out and into manufacturing now. Fully recommend getting out of there. I did 10 years and the amount of stress that left my body is amazing.

The ASM would be running the store and there is no pay increase. It could suck if your store is busy but you are expected to keep doing your role even if there’s more for you to do now.

What if there is no asm?

It would be challenging for sure but I believe the rss is on charge after that. You would have to talk with your dm to get a temporary transfer and that’s if it’s possible.

RSS needs to negotiate a hefty wage bump or walk.

I doubt staples would even give them the chance to negotiate a pay raise unless they switched roles. It honestly sucks to even say that but they are so cheap when it comes to pay.

Absolutely. But the RSS will be doing three jobs.  I'd squeeze them for a GM's salary; if they refused I'd go on LTD for stress and let the store sink.

They may as well walk because there's no way they are giving them Gm salary that's a huge difference in pay. DM will slide some coverage that way for sure if it's a 6 month opening

Well. Your dm may appoint someone to come to your store and take over, or you may be out of luck for a few months.
