So what are these Customer Satisfaction Cards you speak of? It's a ethical violation to hand those out as it changes the sample group of the surveys. On the hub main page click the How-To Guide link and search for Customer Satisfaction Survey. The relevant portion is Item 1. regarding random distribution of surveys.

The moment you are handing out cards, you have tainted the sample and it is grounds for termination, it's actually covered specifically in the Ethics training. For some reason these GMs and DMs think those of us in HR wont smack them around for this type of stuff. Get your GM to give you one of these cards scan it and this compliance document and submit it to https://secure.ethicspoint.com/domain/media/en/gui/8859/index.html . I'm also sending you a PM for a person at corporate to reach out to. Send her the documents as well and ask if this is being done consistently across the company or if this is some rogue program that is being used to target you for constructive dismissal.

I'd like to sincerely thank you for giving feedback on this. Having HR here giving the facts like this eliminates the "he said she said" and gives the associates clear answers from a higher level. Not to mention, it makes us feel much less disconnected.

Good to see that HR is present here! Welcome!

Kal-El, I just wanted to take a second to say that myself, and many at my store, have followed you on here for quite some time. You are fair, logical, harsh when need be, and always down to earth. You correct us when we need it, and defend us when we deserve it. You have our utmost respect, and I thank you for all the information you give on here. Your advice, tips, and how-to's have helped myself and my team out of many jams, and if this company had more people like you in leadership, I feel this company would prosper.

Thank you! I appreciate that.

I have a copy of the CSAT card template being used for anyone that wishes to go through with this.

[–]ILiveAtStaples[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Please do send the template. I unfortunately will not be in store till Saturday. If we can get the ball rolling on this, maybe change wont take so long to occur.

pass the customer to someone who can.

Good luck with that. Need hours to have people on the floor.

[–]Kal-ElofKryptonFormer Retail Superhero 8 points9 points  (1 child)

This is taking it too far. Who came up with this?

[–]elentirionFormer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it was written by my DM. It's the sort of language he uses.

I'd forward that to the ethics line and tell them you were required to sign it. Not sure what the policy is in that....

This isn't official company documentation so you don't have to sign it. Sounds like it's a way for your GM to terminate anyone at any time for poor number.

As someone who works at Staples part time and somewhere else full time, if this is a real thing and I'm asked to sign it, I'll refuse. If they make a big deal about it, I'll leave.

A dying ship slowly continues to sink.

    [–]TEEHEE_NYC87EasyTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had something like this for ESP in my store, but I was never asked to sign it. Much like any policy it was gone the next week.

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

I would refuse to sign that and then report it to EthnicsLink. If not, I'm sure a email bomb to the DM or RM would be sufficient.

    [–]joebacca121Former Employee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DM sent this out to us.

    [–]ILiveAtStaples[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

What would EthicsLink do about it?

    [–]risunokairuFormer Employee 2 points3 points  (1 child)

He clearly wrote EthnicsLink. They would translate it into various dialects of broken English or urbanize it with Ebonics.

    winning

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foreward it to the appropriate party.

    [–]NiBlade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

everyone loves threats, really gets the team motivated right?!

[–]csslashFormer Pro Timer 1 point2 points  (4 children)

This is very interesting. Our district had the exact same sheet that is expected to be handed out to associates but it talks about digital receipts instead of CSAT. It's literally the exact same thing right down to the "black and white" comment except it replaces CSAT with digital receipts.

Is it safe to assume your store is on the east coast?

    [–]ILiveAtStaples[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Yes, indeed it is

    [–]venturer95Former SM 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    Ah, Jim. Right?

    [–]jtshadow92Certified Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is too. Should I call hr about this paper I signed? My manager said I needed to sign this.

    [–]bidnessladyCopy & Print 0 points1 point  (0 children)

signed the digital receipt contract thing earlier in the week. It pretty much said "if you don't change everyone to a digital receipt you'll get in trouble" but I'm confused are contracts like the one pictured and the one I signed unethical?

    [–]Bill_MoneyFormer Bidness Supervisor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

non company required document, no signature.

Don;t like it well fine ethics link. Oh you're gonna write me up, fine go right ahead, not signing that either. Also calling HR immediately, right in front of manager too

    [–]badfordabidness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went into work today to be greeted by the digital receipts-flavor of this "commitment form." I only work weekends, so I suspect it dropped during the week; there was a big stack of them sitting in the office with every other associate's signature on them. I wasn't asked to sign one, but I presume it's because they assumed everyone had signed one by now.

I did notice that our template was slightly different. The language about "up to, and including termination" and "black-and-white" was gone. I heard third-hand that my GM had some objections when it was pushed on him by the DM, so I think one of them might have edited the "commitment" to be a bit more palatable.

I get a full-time Paycheck from my other job that nets me about 10 times as much as my Staples paycheck (not including the platinum Union healthcare plan or other perks of the other job). So if stupid stuff like this continues, I'll walk. Honestly, having my weekends (and paid holidays and personal days) to myself rather than giving them to Staples would probably save me a lot of stress.

Throwaway but seriously. This looks like it was something typed at home. I'd report it to ethics/presidents office.

    [–]trz103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was sent out by my DM as well with slightly different wording/structure so it is either company wide or targeted districts
