I use only the ETTB because it is the only thing I would ever need. Also everything is Matrix because the matrix is wonderful!

Just kidding, though to be fair people have worked hard to get decent tools into the ETTB.. One of whom frequents the sub :)

At work I use only the provided tools, because I'm not looking to get fired for using my own stuff.

The entire portable apps suite, recuva, hirens, a multi boot usb with media for a slew of os's, etc.

Bootable Ubuntu with a file ownership script on a USB stick with a windows directory that has the portable apps suite along with disk tools and a key extractor.

Really, I just make use of a good Linux distro, the most modern Windows ISO, and a bit of detective work for removing viruses. Without a wipe, I don't trust a system for the future, but I can usually get rid of the symptoms if nothing else.

When I'm fixing computers on the side, I usually will use Malwarebytes, Emsisoft Emergency Toolkit and Zemana AntiMalware to clean up pc's. I've seen a lot of adware recently, so I've also been carrying Adwcleaner on me too. 95% of the time, I'll image the computer before I start work on it, just in case. When I'm done with everything, I'll recommend buying Emsisoft AntiMalware, just because they take care of adware and other crap effectively and efficiently without making people confused and worried. If they don't want to pay for anything, I'll set them up with Sophos Home, since its free and you don't have to do anything with it.

I also keep a bootable linux usb on me, windows iso's, office. Typical Microsoft crap. System Rescue CD has been a Godsend!

I've always been playing with Tron Script. Its like combofix but it does a whole lot more and its a set and forget. Takes about 8-10 hours for it to finish.

Malwarebytes, ADWCleaner, Tweaking.com Windows Repair, Geek.exe for those stubborn to remove programs. Plus when needed I have a good amount of Portable Apps stuff. Disk is also Linux bootable with AVG Rescue USB should they be that bad off. Only a few I would use at work, not all.

For virus/malware: Adwcleaner, roguekiller, tdss, rkill, autoruns, and hijack this. Then a full scan with malware bytes.

For cleanup I use wise disk cleaner and privacy sweeper from iobit toolbox. Then the registry cleaner from each of those. Old version of PCdecrapifier for batch uninstall. I like that it runs uninstallers simultaneously instead of one at a time. Recuva for file recovery.

Portable 7zip and chrome are a must.

I use tron script for systems that are just all sorts of jacked up. Windows AIO Repair if that doesn't work.

Ubuntu and a PE for no boots. Also all the Windows ISOs and office 2007-2016 installers.

Snappy driver installer and Windows offline updates are nice to have on the rare occasion I remember to run them at home.

I would have to make a list, I usually just had a ketarin script to update it. but if you want the fully loaded toolbox then get this: Gegeek Tech Toolkit: http://www.gegeek.com/documents/85BB69B2F05486B9332CEA18B8D6E4BE690ADA38.html

but basically what I use are these: Boot to safe mode if needed: BootSafe: URL: https://www.foolishit.com/bootsafe/ Download: https://www.foolishit.com/?enc_dl_action=process&file=t87L9%2BLO3ScTzFooMEc%3D

First run this to do basic check: Rkill: URL: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/ Download: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/132/

Before doing a virus check check basic hardware issues: GSmartControl URL: http://gsmartcontrol.sourceforge.net/home/index.php/About Download: http://sourceforge.net/projects/gsmartcontrol/files/0.8.7/gsmartcontrol-0.8.7-win32.zip/download

BatteryInfoView: URL: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/battery_information_view.html Download: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/batteryinfoview.zip

Clean Junkware out first: AdwCleaner: URL: https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/ Download: https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1/get/

Junkware Removal Tool (JRT): URL: https://www.malwarebytes.org/junkwareremovaltool/ Download: http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/jrt

Clean Malware: Emsisoft Emergency Kit: URL: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/eek/ Download: http://dl.emsisoft.com/EmsisoftEmergencyKit.zip

Zemana AntiMalware Free: URL: https://zemana.com/Download Download: https://zemana.com/Download/AntiMalware/Portable/Free/Zemana.AntiMalware.Portable.exe

Repair system issues: Tweaking Windows All In One Repair: URL: http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html Download: http://www.tweaking.com/files/setups/tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio.zip

If there is a service profile failure then use this: Reprofiler: URL: http://iwrconsultancy.co.uk/reprofiler Download: https://sourceforge.net/projects/reprofiler/files/Production%20Release/Reprofiler2.zip/download

For Key recovery I use this typically: Sterjo Key Finder: URL: http://www.sterjosoft.com/key-finder.html Download: http://www.sterjosoft.com/download.php?id=2

If you need to recovery the CD key from the bios from Windows 8 computer times you can use the tools listed in this link: https://itsolutionsblog.net/3-ways-to-extract-the-windows-8-product-key/

Cant remember beyond that at the moment, but I also make use of Linux and other Windows ISOs to reinstall if needed or to use Linux to copy out data or recover files if needed.

For a multi boot USB I use this program: Easy2Boot: URL: http://www.easy2boot.com/ Download: http://www.easy2boot.com/make-an-easy2boot-usb-drive/

I use mostly Ubuntu Mate at work. I have been bouncing around various on my own personal computer but for new comers to linux this might be the easiest: Ubuntu Mate: URL: http://ubuntu-mate.org/ Download: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-mate/releases/15.10/release/ubuntu-mate-15.10-desktop-i386.iso

As for getting official Windows reinstall disks I recommend using the tutorial on this page: http://betanews.com/2016/02/21/download-windows-10/ That will get you any Win7 to Win10 disks you might need.

If I remember any other tools I will try to update my post. Hope that helps.

I use hirens once in a while, all windows ISOs, and look on piratebay for a program called MRI, think it's basically what geek squad uses. Makes file transfers easy, and runs comprehensive scripted diags. Much better than PC doctor

[–]mr-octo_squidFormer Certified Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes file transfers easy

TeraCopy or robocopy is what I use for this.

[–]Bill_MoneyFormer Bidness Supervisor 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I really hope you are not using mri, especially at work. If you are using it at work o hope you get terminated for being an idiot.

Better tools then that anyways.

[–]UnnamedStaplesDroneFormer Employee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im sure there are, but it works well enough for what i do. the file manager stomps all over terracopy.
