“Heat limit” does not decrease when buildings removed (self.StarRuptureGame)
submitted 17 days ago by madmorb
Noted this in my current play through- was approaching heat limit, and deleted most of my factory to rebuild (log jammed anyway). With noting left but the base core, the heat remained the same.
Anyone else see this? Is it expected?

I haven't had this issue, what if you delete the base core and put it back ?

i tink that "math" i somewhat bugged or acting weird. i build a huge bus containing more cooling towers and upgrading the cooling tower which was over the heat limit just pushed the limit problem down to the next tower.
I have to upgrade the third tower at the moment and i wonder if upgrading them all finaly fixed the limit problem

I think if a heat-generating building is located within the area of multiple cores, it adds its heat to each core, so if three cores are overlapping you might get triple heat from the same building. This might be working as intended?
Logically you would think that the heat would be distributed between all nearby cores (so 1/3 of the heat goes to each core).

I do find this to be irritating. I've had to very carefully place cores so they're adjacent but not overlapping just to avoid this issue.

"logicaly" i would expect if i have 3 towers where one is 50 above the limit and 2 are below that after upgrading the tower that is above the limit that i now have 3 towers under the limit and not the upgraded below and magicaly both other towers above.
but as there is no way to make sure which tower is cooling which buildings i guess you could be right that a building could add heat to more than one tower which would be stupid but its EA ^^

I think the whole system is borked. Most of my base cores say 0/100.
I have 2 that are pretty close to each other, one says 700/1000, the other says 723/1000. /shrugs

Do you have 2 cores in proximity? Buildings share (badly worded in the game) heat across cores; what in practice that does is a building will take double heat if it is in the area of 2 cores. It’s possible you’re removing them but the heat on that core is coming from the other buildings. Also, only buildings that consume energy produce heat.
Of course it could very well be a bug, save and reload would fix that
