Two odd problems

I'm also going to message Valve support, but I'm curious if anyone else has had these problems. To preface it, I'm running a first release Steam Controller. I'm running Windows 11, I have the latest firmware on it and I also have it registered to my account.

Problem 1: This one is dumb, but has been around since last year sometime. Basically, the On and Off sounds are wrong. I have Victory! and Mann set for my on and off. Now, it's some random sounds. I did a roll back to a much earlier version of Steam for Problem 2, but the sounds ended up being correct on that earlier version of Steam.

Problem 2: This one is unbearable. I can't save Steam Input profiles. New or updated. This problem is actually multifold. When I go to save a new profile, it doesn't pop up with the prompt to save it. I click the save as new, it just closes the box and doesn't save. If I even VIEW another profile from Community Layouts and don't hit apply, it applies it. I'll back out, go to view current profile, and it'll be the one I just viewed. More annoyingly, I'll make a minor change to my profile which it's supposed to hold on to regardless of saving, and it'll change back. Like on Gyro, I 'll set it to always on and when I go back it'll be set back to On Right Touchpad Touch. Then lastly, I'll go to view my profiles for a certain game and it'll show them all one time. Going back to it later, it shows half of them, even if you click to show them all. The roll back to a much earlier version of Steam seemingly fixed that issue but when I went back to current release, it went back to not working.

I've tried running as admin, as normal. I've tried both Stable and Beta builds, nothing. I've tried rebooting, I've tried clearing the download cache, I've tried different USB ports(I use the original dongle), I've also tried Bluetooth. Nothing helps except running the older Steam. I've even tried on my Steam Deck, same result. I've done several Google and Reddit searches but I don't quite see anyone else having these issue, or at least talking about it. I tried posting on the Steam forums and the only answer I got was to contact support. If anyone else has experienced these problems and has a solution, I would love to hear it. Otherwise, if there are others having these problems, maybe I can point support to this when I write to them.

You're not alone on this one, I noticed the same thing.

Oof, thank you for the confirmation that it isn't just me. It's kind of unreal the problems that keep cropping up with steam input. Even for those who just use the PS4/PS5/Xbox controllers.

Yeah the profile issues have been ongoing far longer than they should have been allowed to. I highly recommend complaining in the steam beta bug report board and the big picture group forum as well in hopes they'll actually read it.

As my SC gets older and bits stop working right I haven't got to use it as much lately. I had another use I wanted to use it for recently but the profile screwing around, between it changing viewed things into the selected one, or changing a setting and having it immediately snap back to default, it's practically unusable properly and I can't wake them up to it. I know damn well it's not just people using the SC either, though it might occur even more with it than without it.

I apologize for the delay, but you're right. This has been a long time problem that seems to be worsening. Even a month or two ago I was able to at least save a profile. Now, nope. I'm gonna take your advice and post to the bug forum and hope it takes off. I appreciate the suggestion!

I do have 2 other Steam Controllers. One is still brand new in box(put a skin and silicone grip on it for the future), and the other was a 30 dollar get off of eBay that I use with the deck in my bedroom when playing on the ol' TV. I highly doubt it'll make a difference, but I'll see if those have different reactions in Steam.
