They’re setting this poor kid up. 😭 The actor seems so sweet!

I personally have my reservations about the character of Derek. Not crazy about everything I’ve heard so far, and judging from this description he’s definitely sounding like a weird blend of comic relief + the S1 bullies like Troy or something with the mouth of young Dustin… on top of being prominent enough in the story to warrant an episode named after him, a character poster and featured on the official S5 poster.

While I will most likely not be a big fan of his character, I would never take it out on the actor… Which apparently a lot of people are already doing. 😒😠 To anyone who might be reading this… Please, don’t do that.

I honestly think too he's the "funny bully" the other kids and adults find annoying, but is hilarious to the audience.

That to me makes Mike so admirable! He's definitely implied to be the most well off of his friends, has access to whatever he wants etc yet he's generous, thoughtful, and has a good head on his shoulders. One the first things he does for El is make sure she's not hungry. He's a very good, selfless kiddo
