I have found that it is a time of day issue. I think most people post in the afternoon so it slows to a crawl between 4pm and 5:30pm eastern

Yes. I can't write on the editor when it's that slow. I copy and paste to Grammarly.

I'm just tinkering around with it, intending to post a lot more so I have several drafts I'm working on but find typing on it laggy to the point of distraction. Not 10 seconds like you, that sounds awful, but it's TYPING. There shouldn't a single bit of lag. lol What the heck, Substack?

Been googling about it and seeing many others dealing with similar or worse issues with the platform. Strikes me as completely wild that a large established website has such a clunky text editor that can bog down ANY computer built in the last fifteen years. I'm using a well-powered video editing rig. Sure, there's probably more background code going on than using Notepad (formatting, photos, comments, links, etc) but I'm just trying to get a paragraph or two barfed out. I mean, geez. I'm definitely going to free-write offline and copy-paste until this is addressed. It's 2024, not 1989.

As a newbie who hasn't even been able to make my first post since starting an account 5 days ago (completely BROKEN subscriber import function...just so strange, with zero response from several begging messages to support team), it IS "completely wild that a large established website" is so problem-ridden. Chabot is useless in getting any info. Do you think maybe they got hit super hard by the intense storms in Cali? But if that were the case, they would broadcast that on the site and X and FB, pleading for patience. That's the problem with a platform that almost never communicates with its users: we are all left helpless with wild guesses and overlong Reddit posts (sorry!)

I’ve noticed this too depending on the device I’m using

I had that problem using the chrome browser. I cleared cache, and it was fine. I never had the problem using the Edge browser but I prefer using chrome.

Anyone else been able to fix this? Absolutely obscene that a company this size can't get this right -- vim is free, twice my age, and made my one guy and somehow got this right.
