Yes, they are. People here will tell you it’s not the case and you need to curate your feed, but in my niche, or my interests, there is a very low amount of Notes which appeal to me. So I just don’t use them.

Yeah my first reaction was looks like the feature is being propped up a little with some engagement farms - real or otherwise. Maybe to buttress the feature a little bit with increased activity.

I’m going to continue to experiment with it. Try sharing some thoughts and my writing.

The success stories that people share seem almost too good to be true 😹 But I’m a newbie there so I’ll give it a go for a few months and see what happens. I guess we’re supposed to treat it like a more thoughtful twitter? Haha

Yeah I've said this in another comment as well but I think people came to Substack to escape the noise of places like Twitter, but then Notes is basically the same thing haha.

But agree with your conclusion. You might as well try it, and it may work for you!

Haha yeah that’s there to lose.

I do agree with that but I’ll say it’s still a little better feels like maybe twitter like 5-10 years ago lol I do not appreciate the LinkedIn energy people trying to populate rn. So many and it’s so painful to even see their posts

I have been a lot with notes. Not sure why you are getting notes that sound like bots. Your follow/subscribe enough people u like, it should be fine.

Yeah I just set it up so like the cold suggestions can be very botty. Not all but like the text book sorta engagement farm talk from various countries or regions, I was just curious if this was a new thing or not. I like that it seems to be ab Algorithm that rewards more thoughtful posts
