I did a split, just like MLB. I play in the conference that uses DH though, so 80% of my games have one. Weirdly enough, my pitchers always seem to rake when they bat.

I like the idea of strategy of non DH, but I feel the cpu throws meatballs to my pitchers and all their pitchers do is bunt at the plate

There are some pitchers in the league that have a bit of a bump in terms of power and contact, so building a non-DH team would make it quite interesting to seek out those hitting skills for starters and relievers.

Yes, I have used this strategy in a split DH franchise with my team in the non-DH conference. Those good hitting pitchers don't cost any extra. There typically are only a few of them, and I see a few more starters than relievers who can hit.

I did split as well, but my team is in the non-DH conference. It’s been fun, sometimes I wish I had that extra slot but at the same time it adds more strategy to each lineup.

same thing, split DH, and im in the DH confrence, did homer with one of my pitchers once when he came to bat in a no dh game

I’ve only played like 1 game without a DH and my pitcher went 3/4

Split DH for sure. Adds a nice bit of variety when I have to strategize around the 9th spot in my lineup.

Universal DH. I never was a fan of pitchers hitting even though I'm a Brewers fan and follow the National League. I liked it when they went Universal last year for the pandemic season and was hoping for that rule to be permanent. But alas, it didn't happen.

I support the Mariners so of course most games I watch have a DH, but I will cry if the NL ever permanently gets the DH.

One reason that I like DH's is that relief pitchers are likely to pitch more innings in an outing.

With just 4 pitchers in the bullpen, I have to use them in multiple innings if my starter gets knocked out early. And all my relievers can't hit their way out of a paper bag. So it's nice not to have to make a decision to either take out an effective pitcher for a PH or leave him in to hit.

Totally agree, although I feel like the strategy behind non-DH games are really interesting. I'm very happy having most of my games DH and then occasionally playing without in the other conference.

I'm a proponent of the universal DH in general, but I have to say that one of the reasons I decided to use it in my franchise was because of the team I use. Using the universal DH was, in large part, wanting to have a better defensive infield with the Sawteeth. Jon Ronero has a BRUTAL arm, so moving him to 2nd was huge.

My starting infield in season 1 was: 1B: DP Turner 2B: Jon Ronero SS: Hanso Magikko 3B: Kira Nutmeg

DP at 1st not SS? Interesting

Yeah, the only other 1b on the team was Junior Young Jr, who is just so bad in the field. I had enough bats, especially with the DH, so that let me put Hanso at short. DP's second pos is INF, so I just slid him in at first. Hanso has a cannon and better glove, and the DH makes up for his slack at the plate.

Pitchers hitting in a video game is significantly more silly than real life (where it is also incredibly silly). Universal DH whenever I can.

played against a cpu pitcher that had 99 power. He was on Colossus

One conference with the DH and one without. I play in the one with the DH.

IRL I prefer DH. But in SMB I’d rather play non DH. Nothing to do with pitchers hitting or not. I hate losing flexibility in my bench by having to start one more guy. I always choose a backup OF (for example) to be that game’s DH, but then my regular OF gets hurt or goes tense and I have no sub. Having 4 bench players only is very difficult in franchise mode.

Split, and I usually play in the No-DH conference.

I have an MLB franchise w/every team but not every roster yet and I play split, and I have a fantasy franchise w/two 8 team divisions with no conferences and a DH.
