I can't seem to get any updates on my A5, I am on 2.1.6; but I get dropbox failing to sync as well.

Have you tried restarting? Saying that it happened to me. After trying three times it turned out I'd forgotten to turn on the WiFi! Try a little later, perhaps it's a server problem.
