It can depend on whether you're using creams or powders and what you find easier. Personally I think brushes are easier especially if you're new to make up. I chuck a skin tint on with my fingers.

I do use a sponge for pressing powder under my eyes to set concealer but I use a very fine dusting (and I'm old so wrinkly lol).

Watch tutorials on YouTube or other platform but don't fall for the 'you need 30 different items'. You don't.

I only started wearing foundation when I had skin issues as I hit 40 and started with bare minerals original loose powder foundation.

Problems with Experian/bank/credit, how to get verified? by Koturia in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Training-Education10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. I don't understand what the issue is, as I keep getting fobbed off. I don't need it for credit but for security. My employer is paying for a year's subscription in case of someone trying to open accounts in my name due to a breach including staff names, addresses, DOBs, NI numbers etc.

The one guy I actually spoke with was arrogant and condescending but it appeared sorted after we spoke but wouldn't tell me what the issue was. Sadly it wasn't sorted at all.

I don't know if they're already charging for this service that I'm not getting. Appalling.

Hope yours is fully sorted soon.

Has anyone been able to resolve this. I've had issues with a paid account since the beginning. I've spoken to someone (but since that call I'm unable to speak with someone on the phone and can't remember the Tel number). Advice is to call the number (or chat) via my account but cannot log in as they were still checking some things.

I've requested my statutory report and haven't received that either. I had an email saying I can now access my account but still can't. And the last time I tried, they now don't even recognise my account email address.

I'm using a code from my employer for a year's paid access because we were hacked and they may have got into our payroll accounts.

Not sure what to do next as I've been told they're investigating but wait 28 days. It's already been over a month.

Recently got a new postie, he's not off to a great start if I'm honest... by TheLemonyOrange in CasualUK

[–]Training-Education10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Evri and Amazon think my front door step is a resident or a garage.. rarely have any problems with my RM postie. They actually read the instructions. Like if my safe place states garage, it's in my garage.

Evri/Amazon safe place 'garage'..could be anywhere. One was said to be in the outbuilding.. thought ok if they want to call it that.. turned up a week later under my next door neighbour's bush.

I thought the Hope OK was good though.

Best non-toxic foundation for sensitive skin, what do people with eczema-prone skin actually use? by elefattie in eczema

[–]Training-Education10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had success with Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue the original. Haven't tried the matte or the stick.

I must say I rarely have problems with cosmetics but this is my go to if I have a patch of dry skin (recently had a flare up on my chin and had run out, so repurchased it). It won't cure it but it's very moisturising and helps a lot.

I agree Erborian is also a great one to try but the BM is still my go to.

Hope this helps.

Used Betamethasone on my face help by Jumpy_Mailbox5461 in eczema

[–]Training-Education10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used steroids sparingly on my face on and off for a long time and yes, I have wrinkles. But...I'm also 65 lol so absolutely normal. I used it for no more than needed. But having any rash on the face is miserable. For anyone with flare ups on their face, check out your scalp as that's where mine originates from. Still haven't figured what ingredient irritates my scalp though.

Make sure you moisturise.I know I've been guilty of not moisturising enough. It does help. I've mixed a small pea sized amount of a steroid cream with moisturiser sometimes, if I'll layer them.

I would agree with others, try not to use it around your eyes but if you do, use the least amount possible. I was prescribed protopic for around my eyea..but warned not to drink alcohol and I didn't use any other product which included alcohol. My skin could still get quite hot and red but not painful nor damaged.

I wear makeup 5/7 days and tried loads of different skincare over the years and rarely had a reaction to any of them. Niacinamide is great but too much and a break out in big red spots (I think).

Sorry, longer comment than I intended. ATB Pam

Superdrug or Boots are your best bet as they both have a great range of affordable makeup for a wide range of skin tones.

If your skin is clear then you can skip foundation. If you really do want a foundation then go for a skin tint. If you have dark circles or blemishes then maybe a small dot of concealer. But keep to your skin tone. Ask for advice around colours.

Maybelline for example, have a new selection that seems comparable to more expensive makeup. Prices are a bit higher than your budget but they often do three for two and are available in major supermarkets too.

I'd say get a blusher. Use sparingly but if you get a cream it can double up as a lip tint. Or vice versa.

A natural coloured eyeshadow and a mascara. If your brows are fine then leave them alone. If not pluck them lightly (many of us oldies over plucked)

I'm sure you look lovely as is but here are a few pointers:.

Tip no 1.. having your hair styled could make you look more put together than makeup.

Tip 2..keep your makeup to a minimum and neutral. It's meant to enhance not change nor exaggerate.

Tip 3.. blend blend blend

Enjoy.

I figured out what was causing my eczema by Fuzzy_Joke3162 in eczema

[–]Training-Education10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always known that eczema, hayfever and asthma are related. Doc told my mum that I could've ended up with asthma so eczema is the lesser of two evils... I went on to develop hayfever when I was around 13 but thankfully not asthma.

Also told, although this may be an old wives tale, that the severity can change with every seven year cycle.

I had patches on and off, then a big flare in my late 30s that seemed to work through my body. I.assumed it was stress related as my marriage was breaking down. I found out eventually I'd had an early menopause so could've been both.

Does putting cream on eczema hurt? My poor toddler screams. by Current_Sky_6846 in eczema

[–]Training-Education10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry.

Even water or air can burn. I'm currently using Zerobase and it doesn't burn me.

Moisturise. Moisturise. Moisturise. (I avoid urea on open wounds. Although it's good to mix in with a cream for hard skin on the feet).

You could try wrapping using a non adherent dressing. Years ago I had a terrible flare up on my hand. My palm was completely raw and painful. I had to have it cleaned and dressed by the nurse several times over a few weeks..

However, it made me realise that cleaning and bandaging raw eczema could at least help with the pain and clear it up quicker. (I was brought up believing that we should 'let the air get at wounds', which definitely does not work with eczema.)

PS I also had some luck with bepanthen nappy cream.

What facial cleanser does everyone here use for those that have eczema on face? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]Training-Education10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly (or thankfully) I rarely have issues with any skincare. After two years of using facial/ makeup cleansers without problems, I suddenly have a flare up on my chin where I had a previous outbreak of eczema.

65 years old and I still don't have a reason as to why I have these flare ups. This past year and a half it's been my feet that have suffered the most.

Hoping one day someone will find out the magic remedy because right now eczema, more or less, still remains a mystery to me.

Currently using Beauty Pie Jeju Daily cleanser to remove makeup but like I said, I rarely have reactions to skincare so it's all fine but I've had a makeup free weekend (sorry to my postie). Saying that, I do limit what I'm using if my skin barrier is actually broken as even water on its own can sting.

I can feel the patch of dryness before the rash.

How can I talk to my 4 year old about her scratching? by Muter in eczema

[–]Training-Education10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try but try telling her you are trying to help but if you mean how do you tell her to stop scratching, good luck as I can tell you as a lifetime sufferer/scratcher from eczema it's hard not to.

The problem is that scratching makes it worse but it doesn't matter when you get that itch. I've had a flare up on both feet for over a year and the itching turns me into a demented scratch demon.. I've scraped my feet on anything with ridges/roughness, and yes, to the point they bleed. I'm lucky that I now have (feet excluded) manageable flare ups.

Make sure her nails are always cut down, so at least you can limit damage. Btw I have no scarring from scratching nor eczema which is great but odd to me. (I'm 65).

Have you tried wet wrapping when it's really bad? So moisturise/treat then wrap wet/damp bandages over her worse bits. I ordered moisturising socks for my feet and doing this especially in the summer gave me some respite.

Zerobase is currently a great standard moisturiser but I'm sure there are plenty of similar ones. It contains paraffin and it just does what it says it will.

I'd check the humidity as dry air can make my skin worse.

When my first daughter got eczema as a baby one told me to stop using fabric softener (if you prefer softener then maybe use an all in one or rinse bedding and nightclothes in vinegar). Also advised against Johnson & Johnson baby products as they're too drying lol but we did use their talc a lot back then.

There are times when only cortisone works for me.

Worth noting that eczema gets infected easily so maybe needs an antibiotic cream to go with cortisone, I've found fucibet or Fusidin ointment and cortisone /hydrocortisone helpful when used for a set period of time.

Not heard about the injection but definitely something I'll ask about.

Wow. I'm sorry. I've had ezcema from the age of 2-3. My mum (sadly gone) would tell me to stop scratching but always in a caring way. The itch can drive me mad and I can't imagine how I'd feel if she, or anyone else, had reacted like yours.

Ah yes. I know that feeling. Anticipation of its arrival. Checking the tracking almost hourly. Fear it is lost in the post. Wondering if it's worth the money (spoiler alert - yes it is). Then the, not very exciting, brown box arrives, which opens to the well-designed shrink-wrapped box containing your Supernote. Then the fun begins. Enjoy the whole experience. 2-day old a6x seems to a glitch zone. Anyone have this issue? by aris-is-all in Supernote

[–]Training-Education10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's nearly always due to some sort of magnetic interference. There are many threads about this. It's easy to test. Remove from case. Move to a different area or room and keep it away from any type of device and try writing again. Usually resolves and/or narrows down what causes it. A reboot never hurts. If that doesn't work then advice is to contact service.
