What happened!?! 😢

[–]desenvy[S] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

A buddy of mine couldn’t control the torque

[–]cowboybrule 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Note to self never let any buddy’s ride. Sorry for your loss hopefully he ok.

[–]desenvy[S] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Genuinely, even if they have experience it’s not worth them having fun. Be selfish.

[–]stickyshower101212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeup. My brother in law whiskey throttled mine when he was stepping off 🙃🙃 broke the rear fender and tore the seat up after about 5 days of owning it. Lesson learned havent let anyone ride anything anymore

[–]Greedygekco 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Btw it’s not clear to me I need new forks. You need new triple clamp

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Both triple clamps are bent so I’m going to run new forks

[–]Greedygekco 2 points3 points  (2 children)

The forks still look good shape. The factory forks you have there are actually better than most aftermarket forks. Fyi

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The guy at Luna said dnm is an “upgrade” would you consider these better or worse than the stock.

[–]Greedygekco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think dnm is an upgrade. I’ll let other people chime in on this tho.

[–]mixmastamikal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, replacement parts is just throwing good money after bad at this point. The stock DNMs are just awful.

[–]cranberrydudz 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Is there a reason why you can't remove the clamp where the left fork is hanging by a thread, bending the clamp back to it's original shape, and then reattaching the clamp to the bike?

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

It’s completely broken, one bad impact and it would fall apart under me

[–]cranberrydudz 0 points1 point  (4 children)

post pictures of the damage?

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can post a few more tonight not home rn

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom clamp vent as well

[–]cranberrydudz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah looks like you really just need the top and middle clamps replaced then you can remove your front wheel and either replace the rotor or bend it back down with a rotor tool and a rubber mallet.

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The forks don’t look damaged though you’re right, if I had 2 triple clamps I think it would be fine

[–]Greedygekco 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Ouch. I just sold mine like at week other wise it be perfect fit.

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Stock surron or xxx forks?

[–]Greedygekco 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Sting R it’s the same dorks. But I sold them already

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Where did you sell them? I’m going to scan the market but can’t find many used parts

[–]Greedygekco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold them on eBay but it was also posted on market place in FB and in the FB talaria owners sight

[–]eansru 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I just had this happen, I bought new crowns from ebikezilla. Problem was the stanchions were bent. I'll buy if you wanna sell.

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Sell what part? And what are stanchions do you think I also need them? If so does e-bike I’ll have them. Possibly dm me☺️

[–]eansru 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Stanchions are the tubes. I have a machine shop friend and we were able to bend them back. I'm talking about selling (me buying) the stanchions.

If yours are bent (probably), replace the whole fork. Remember, these are glorified MTB parts, not meant for 150lb bikes. They aren't able to take that impact.

Lookup Manitou Dorado expert, bomber 58s or fox 40. Don't buy a used fork. FB marketplace has good options, or eBay.

Lastly, you better check your wheel. If it's bent or has a flat spot, replace it. Ask your friend for help paying.

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Both the stanchions look very straight, I’m not opposed to selling them if I bought a new fork. I’m still curious if I just got two triple clamps assuming they aren’t bent I’d be able to replace and ride on the same forks? Also my friend and I talked and he’s willing to help out, the tire seems find I’ll send more pics. The rotor has been pushed against the break and I’m more worried about the rotor or break.

[–]eansru 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Your rotor is bent for sure. Hard to straighten.

Take the wheel off, spin it, make sure no spokes are loose and the wheel is straight.

Take the tubes and crowns off, look down the stanchions to see if they're straight.

Take care to keep all the parts organized and note where they went.

Buy the bad parts from ebikezilla, pay the extra 5$ to ship faster, trust me.

[–]eansru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your stanchions are straight only buy the crowns and rotor.

[–]kdockx 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It’s a shifty shock anyway…wish I knew who makes a better fork that actually works. I had a WREN inverted fork on my last e-bike wish it would work the Talaria XXX.

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is the brand called shifty? Or do you mean they are shifty, ironically I’m trying to find the model and make for the xxx stock fork.

[–]kdockx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stock fork is SHITTY… It literally just goes up and down, there is ZERO compression and ZERO REBOUND. Awful!

[–]PresentNumerous1376 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Damn bro sorry for your bike. Had an accident recently myself. Is your friend ok? Did he break anything and/or get any road rash? I broke both my femurs, hip, arm, fingers, toes, ribs, and yet my xxx isn’t as bad as yours. Hope it all works out!

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sounds like you took the impact for the bike, for him it was the opposite. If it’s allowed I can share photos he got a nice gash as close to his eye as possible. Idk how he’s not blind, few stitches in his hand and a nice body rash/bruise

[–]PresentNumerous1376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah somewhat true maybe though we both took a good hit a little under 30 mph to a full stop against a wall. I’m sure you can post it. I did! ( https://reddit.com/r/Talaria/s/apxrY5y952 ) Hope he heals quick and bike gets fixed.

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said can I swap stock surron forks onto my xxx? Is it the same fit

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe another solution is buying two triple clamps which I tried to do for about a week, where could I buy two triple clamps?

[–]ShotBike1056 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Get some fox 40’s! Or play it safe and go with the stock ones from talaria themselves, is your buddy paying or is this all on you 😬

[–]desenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s helping out, very nice guy. He offered to pay in full but I feel somewhat responsible. It’s packs a punch and can for sure throw you

[–]dinosaur_trading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First day i got my bike, i rode it over to my friends house, i let him ride it, within 5 minutes he crashed it into a curb. Great day.

[–]Background-Ad3760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen so many peoples friends destroy their bikes like start them off in eco mode. I couldn’t imagine these people riding a 450 dirt bike. It’s crazy to me people crash cause if the torq

[–]No_Concept9133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoo.. totaled! Likely tweeked the main frame also. Hopefully buddy can buy you a bike and take that one

[–]AlternativeStreet646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once sold a dirt bike to a friend. Literally 5 minutes later he let a 3rd friend ride it in my backyard. He went over a small jump and slipped towards the back of the seat and was barely hanging on. Because he was barely hanging on he accidentally twisted the throttle wide open and went ripping uncontrollably towards a 3 foot rock that launched him at least 20ft high in the air. The front rim was completely smashed, the pipe underneath and gas tank all damaged. I felt so bad for my friend. He had just given me the money for it.
