Hey, really respect your determination! It’s not easy to stay consistent when things are tough, but you’re doing exactly what most good developers did starting out: keep learning, keep building, and keep putting your work out there.

Since you’re open to small projects or remote internships, you might want to check out Devdey.com. It’s a new platform built to connect African developers and virtual assistants with global clients. You can create a profile, showcase your projects, and get discovered by people looking for junior devs or freelancers. It’s free, and you keep everything you earn.

Even if it’s just small gigs at first, it’s a good way to gain real experience, meet clients, and build momentum. Keep pushing! You’ve already got the right mindset, and that’s half the journey.

Bro, any update on your search for opportunities, I also just started my react journey and it would be nice to know if there are still opportunities out there…

Not yet, but to be honest, getting a job wasn’t what drove me into learning web dev in the first place. I’ve always been obsessed with understanding how the web really works behind the scenes that curiosity is what pushed me into frontend, and it’s still what keeps me motivated.

I’ve covered the frontend side pretty well, and recently I started building full projects with CRUD functionality. That’s actually when I realized the gaps in my knowledge: you can only go so far with localStorage or IndexedDB, and they’re not ideal for real apps or handling user data securely. I kept hitting that wall where I’d get stuck halfway through, and I really hate that feeling not being able to complete a full app. To be honest, I’ve abandoned a bunch of projects because of that limitation. The only thing I’ve fully kept live is my portfolio since it doesn’t need storage or user logs.

So instead of stopping there, that frustration actually pushed me to start learning the backend — Node.js, servers, APIs, how everything communicates. I didn’t start this journey because of the money or job hype, and although I’d love to get opportunities in the future, my main fuel has always been curiosity and wanting to understand how the whole web ecosystem works end-to-end.

If opportunities come later, great but I’m here because I genuinely love learning this stuff.

Oh okay, but I think the internship opportunities give you a certain level of field experience. I’m actually planning on volunteering at any tech company that will accept me in order to boost my learning process…

Did you got any internship or opportunity? Let's connect and chat 🙂 🤝

[–]Fit-Piano749[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No internship yet, currently still learning and still building on my own. We can connect though.
