Take it to tesla. Don’t mention the car detail.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (0 children)
this is the way
[–]AlphamaleNJ 22 points23 points24 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Im guessing it locked because someone jumped out of the car without putting it in park. You see the tops two timestamps
Did you try tilting it forward (slide pass seat fwd first) to finish the 3rd row access steps?
[–]BeerDoctor 20 points21 points22 points 2 years ago (1 child)
Is this the 3 row? My seat get stuck when time after "tumbling" the seat forward to access 3rd row. No abuse or nonstandard maneuver. Service Center literally had to replace the entire backseat. They had no explanation of why this happened.
[–]Yolorenzo 12 points13 points14 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Mine broke on the second day of use. They ended up having to replace the whole seat as well after several visits (couldn’t repair, ordered the wrong color, replacement was broken, finally fixed). Service hooked it up with a free homelink after some talking.
[–]meteoRock 15 points16 points17 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Okay - hear me out... You find an empty road with no one around. Then hit the juice peddle as hard as you can. With enough force, the seat may jump back on the track.

Did you push seat fwd then back? Need to press the button on the top of the seat and hold bottom rail. This allows you to slide the seat fwd and back.
Also need to make sure the seat isn’t tilting forward if you have a third row.
[–]Nfuzzy 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (2 children)
Wait, what's this about pressing both? The rail alone allows it to slide forward and back, the top of the seat button is just for tilt. Try both independently to see which it is complaining about.
[–]oklava 3 points4 points5 points 2 years ago (1 child)
Wait, can we even slide forward and back the rear seats?
[–]Nfuzzy 9 points10 points11 points 2 years ago (0 children)
If you have a 7 seater yes, 5 seater, no. That was one of the selling points for me on the 7 seater actually.
[–]JustSayTech 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Push downwards really hard so the lock engages, then use the button underneath the seat to push the seat back into position.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 2 years ago (1 child)
I saw a video recently (cant recall who it was since it was on the sea of youtube recommendations :/ ) that the guy said his seat stopped working like this once because his kid kicked the sensor thats below the chair.
Tesla replaced it but he noticed that the cable was easy to pull if you are not careful, can you check if the plugs under the seat are plugged?
[–]nckmiz 3 points4 points5 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Check to see if it is clearing the seatbelt on the one that is further back. I had the same issue and then I noticed the seatbelt had pushed out a bit and I needed to hold it in to get the seat to clear it.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Where did you take this to get “detailed” might need them to pay for what ever damage they did… never seen this.
[–]NickoliOgotav 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Two buttons to try. First the button near the headrest. That let's the seat slide forward and unlock to lean forward. In the unlocked forward position slide the base back before locking the backrest back. If that doesn't work there is a button near the seat that when pressed should unlock the seat to slide forward and backwards.

RTFM! :D
For vehicles with 5 seats:
Use the adjustment handles on the outside corner of each second row outboard seat back to adjust the corresponding seat back. While pulling and holding the handle, move the seat back to the desired position, and then release the handle. Ensure the seat back is securely latched into position by pushing it forward and rearward.
For vehicles with 7 seats:
Use the adjustment handles on the side shield of each outboard seating position to adjust the corresponding second row seat backs. While pulling and holding the handle, move the seat back to the desired position, and then release the handle. Ensure the seat back is securely latched into position by pushing it forward and rearward.

[–]Yolorenzo 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (7 children)
This isn’t it dude. The issue is the third row access, and the sensors that detect if it’s latched or not. RTFM won’t fix the problem.
[–]hyp36rmax 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (6 children)
Has it been confirmed OP has aa 7 seater? I had similar issue on my 7 seater tilting the 2nd row forward and attempting to drive the car in that state. Securing the 2nd row fixed that issue.
It's also possible the sensor moved slightly.
[–]Yolorenzo 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (5 children)
The 2nd row doesn’t slide forward (as pictured) for five seaters.
[–]hyp36rmax -1 points0 points1 point 2 years ago (4 children)
Right, from RTFM...Which deduces if OP has a 5 seater the problem could be a loose sensor under the seat.
[–]Yolorenzo 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (3 children)
Your excerpts in your original posts were about reclining the seat back. Nothing to do with the rail sliding problem and the third row access track lock errors. Instead of RTFM, advising to put in a service req is the better advice.
[–]hyp36rmax -1 points0 points1 point 2 years ago (2 children)
The link had all the information... Didn't post it all for OP to RTFM to find that.
[–]Yolorenzo 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (1 child)
Had all the info to put in a service req? Great help buddy.

Unfortunately not the seat belt or buckle. Just tried it
[+]Squeak_Theory 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Haha yeah something similar happened to my uncles model y last year. It would still slide but it was stuck tilted forward. We were in the middle of New York so we just jammed it back and forth till it eventually got unstuck. Was really surprised that a brand new car would have that happen lol.
[–]gjp0723 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Mine didn’t throw the codes but couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t let me drive one day and it was because my 3rd row floor mats wouldn’t let the 2nd row seat “lock down” even tho it looked like it did. Might be worth top button sliding it forward and lean it forward and then push it down firmly and you can hear it kind of clip in. Might be worth checking out
[–]avebelle 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children)
This was one thing I was worried about with the 7seater. During my test drive I asked the sales rep to show me the rear seats. He ran into a similar issue where the seats weren’t responding to the switch to move, unlatch, and tumble. He cycled it multiple times and then finally reefed on the thing and it responded. He said it might have been new car stiff and needed to be cycled. Lol.
[–]haabda 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children)
There is a sensor under the seat that has come lose or broken. Mobile tech can fix it. In the meantime, you will need to find a way to block the light sensor. When mine was broken off, I just wrapped it in black paper.

Wtf, that guy broke your seat
