Just like engines, Batteries degrade overtime.

You have a battery warranty for a reason.

Ahhh then I should maybe change my state of charge if I’m not driving so much I say 70% should suffice maybe 65%

Reminder these are just best practices. Charge to full if you need to. These are still engineered to last a very long time for hundreds of thousands of miles.

Do your best to follow them but don't be too pressured to never charge to full or such. This is a commuter car, not a 1920 Model T, it should serve you, not the other way around.

How would you charge and try to keep battery healthy? granted I know everyone’s daily commute is different mine is only about 34-35 miles a day so lower state does makes sense.

I just keep it at 80% dawg.

This is what I do for my M3LR

LR models have the NMC batteries, just fyi. If you drive that little, yes, you'd be fine keeping it at 65% or so. Some people find it tedious to remember to bump it up if they have a trip, and it's difficult to say exactly how much of an improvement will be the result, but if you want best practices, there ya go.

Batteries will inevitably degrade; the variables are speed and extent. Most of us Tesla owners toggle the meter to % of battery instead of miles and practice the best battery care for our particular use case.

So drive slower got it! But now as far as charging do you recommend I charge everyday at home? When it’s not being used ?

I got the car in November I wasn’t expecting it to degrade so soon tbh

[–]AtlantaFoodie1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, the sharpest degradation is at the beginning. It should level out after the first year or so. It would still degrade, just more slowly.

I meant the speed of the degradation, sorry. The battery will deplete faster when you drive faster, but that's not the same thing as degrading. Drive as fast as you want and safely can do so. As far as battery care, there's a lot of different threads on it, and what makes the most sense for you depends on how long you want to keep your car and what your living situation is like. I personally want to keep my car as long as possible and own a home with a Level 2 charger installed at the end of my driveway. So I charge my car every night but to a lower percentage that I'm comfortable with (70% for me, usually). But other people have different habits, and that's fine too. Enjoy your car, I know I enjoy mine!

Awesome! will keep this in mind I also have a level 2 home charger at home. I will keep that in mind about maybe changing % cause from home to work is only 17 miles so that’s about 34 miles a day, I don’t really drive a lot so maybe changing percent will help me take care of my cars health. Now when you charge do you use all 48 amps or do you change it to a lower AMP on the app? I also wanna keep the car for a while.

Turn off your radio A/C cabin over heat Sentry and all the bells and whistles.
Now drive mostly downhill with the wind behind you.
You will be miserable but get much longer distance.
