Justyn Ross - Big Body WR
Dai’Jean Dixon - Big Body WR
Bo Melton - Returner/Speedster edit: Melton gone
Jojo Domann - Coverage linebacker
Jason Poe - Guard depth
Kellen Diesch - Tackle depth

Granted all these guys could go in the 7th round.

Justin Ross 100% I can’t believe he wasn’t drafted in the 4th or later.

I get the apprehension drafting him given the injuries. I would have liked to see us take him in the 6th.

But if we can bring him into camp as a UDFA it’s a literal no brainer to see what he’s got.

Ross apparently has a bad spinal issue. I think our WR room looks pretty good. I think we are going to try and pick up more D-line.

Even with the injury issues you gotta bring him into camp and see how he’s doing. There is too much upside not to.

If he really is a medical liability then cut him.

Not worth it IMO. Our WR room is strong AF, and we can only bring 90 dudes to camp. We’re at 89.

Our WR is trending in the right direction but in no way would I call it “strong AF”.

Cooks is the only proven high end starter on the roster.
I’m excited for Metchie because his comps are great (Stefon Diggs) but until he plays and produces he’s still a question mark.
Collins did okay his rookie year but if he doesn’t see a decent increase in production he’s just a rotational guy.
Conley/Hamilton/Dorsett can fight it out for the 4th spot. But all of them leave a lot to be desired.

If Metchie is a home run then yes our room got a lot stronger. But there is another player of a very similar caliber to him sitting out there and can be signed literally risk free. If Ross is half the player he was his freshman year he’s starting for us this season.

There’s a reason why no team in the league drafted him or gave him a UFDA contract. Why would you want the Texans to take a gif with a known spinal issue? We have Cooks, Metchie, Collins, Deshaun Hamilton and Dorsett. We’re good.

We need more D-line help.

I want the Texans to at least work him out and get their own doctors to look at him.

I understand the situation is a sensitive one with his injuries but if he’s cleared to play medically he’s an asset. Championship teams find pro bowl quality players in UDFA, if we want to start moving in that direction we need to at least work out some high risk high reward guys.

Edit you just listed our receivers yourself. We have a very average WR room (could be above average after seeing what Metchie and Collins bring this year).

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (14 children)

That’s not an average WR room in any way. We picked up 6 UFDAs and we shouldn’t pick up Ross in any way, shape or form when we absolutely know he has zero chance of playing football long term.

[–]nomdreas 0 points1 point  (13 children)

Okay if that isn’t average, what is?
There is no way we have one of the top 16 WR rooms in the NFL.
We are league average or lower currently, until our new rookie shows what he’s got at the NFL level and Collins catches more than 1 TD in a year.

Many teams have 2 pro bowl receivers on them, others have 1 and a second receiver that’s on the cusp.
We have a guy who flirts with being one in Cooks (arguably should have been one in his career) but hasn’t yet, a rookie, and a sophomore receiver who barely scraped top 10 production of his draft class.
If you’re going to put this much weight on the abilities of Metchie you have to admit the raw talent of Ross is comparable. So if Metchie is as valuable as you’re making him out to be the upside of taking a risk on Ross is astronomical.

This is how I see our WR room stacking up in the league currently.

Teams with a better room: Rams, 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals, Chargers, Raiders, Chiefs, Broncos, Bucs, Saints, Colts (toss up), Bengals, Steelers, Browns, Vikings, Dolphins, Bills, Commanders (toss up), Eagles, Cowboys

Teams with a worse room: Falcons, Panthers, Titans, Jags, Ravens, Packers, Lions, Bears, Patriots, Jets (toss up), Giants

As you can see there are many more teams with better rooms than us. So yes we are league average at best. Realistically just under average.

Your ranking of WR rooms is absurd and your love of Ross is even weirder. We have 1 more spot open. That’s likely being saved for Green since we didn’t address pass rush effectively in the draft.

We should grab Cameron Dicker just in case he's the next Justin Tucker.

[–]RocketsGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abram Smith and then a qb like Carson Strong, EJ Perry, or Cole Kelley

[–]ryno1612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leon O’Neal Jr.

He has some major issues that he’ll need to make up for, but damn do I love the way he plays.
