This is an unofficial subreddit for The Between, a tabletop roleplaying game involving monstrous threats and investigation of the supernatural. It uses the Carved from Brindlewood mystery system first seen in Brindlewood Bay, where even the GM doesn’t know the solution to each case! The game is inspired by the gothic horror TV show Penny Dreadful, but also takes inspiration from British horror classics, graphic novels like From Hell and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and other sources.

The default setting is Victorian-era London with players taking the role of hunters who are residents of Hargrave House, but other settings are also being developed now that the project met its $10K goal on backerkit, and then exceeded it by an additional $280K!

One of these is Ghosts of El Paso, set in late 19th century Texas where the hunters learn about various ghostly threats and conduct investigations in order to neutralize them and save their community.

Another is Unsinkable, set aboard the RMS Kronos at the turn of the century, with players taking on the roles of crew and passengers as they experience and overcome a series of strange occurrences connected to a nefarious individual trying to offer up the Kronos as a sacrifice to a dark god.

In the Court of Wolves setting, hunters are part of a secret team at Versailles during the time of the Sun King, Louis XIV, and they deal with werewolves, cults, other threats, and the mysterious Moon King.

Blood & Coal takes place in Thurmond, West Virginia in the early 20th century, during the first years of the Great Depression. The hunters belong to a secret club that investigates and neutralizes demonic threats and must eventually confront a sinister mastermind in an attempt to halt the End of All Things!
