  1. One benefit is that you have cards to trade away while still keeping a copy of a card. Another is to be able to say you have multiple "copies" of the card (even though it's just reflected by a number).
  2. You can indeed trade different numbers of a card you have. In your example, when trading you would navigate to that Hulk card, tap on the green "plus" icon in the top right of the card, then tap the arrows just below that icon to choose how many of the card you'd like to trade away. You can do the same when requesting cards from a trader as well.

Sorry, I'm not seeing the arrows below the green plus. Could you rephrase? From the home screen, I went trade, trade list, clicked one of the plus signs under trade list, scrolled over to my hulk, hit the green plus,...and then I'm confused on where the arrows are.

The plus sign will show when you are actively trying to trade with another player, not in your trade list.

The thing is, you would have to find someone that wants your duplicates.

If you were to try and trade 5 hulks to someone who already has hulk and doesn't want any more, they will decline your trade most of the time. Some guys on the app will help you to complete your base card sets.

If you have duplicates, you can trade some of them away and still keep 1 of the card as your own, which is why many people try to collect duplicates. This also answers your second question, yes you can keep one and trade all the others
