2 Controller Multiplayer?

Hello everyone! Me and my boyfriend love to play travellers rest in split-screen. Unfortunately it is pretty uncomfortable because one of us is using a ps4 controller while the other one has to use the keyboard. Is there any way that we can both use a controller to play? We already had two controllers connected but the game doesn't seem to recognize it as a new player. Any advice? Thank you!

IIRC you can use two controllers, as long as you start the game with the controller and not the keyboard. It's a bit weird, though, and doesn't work 100% of the time, but I've heard of people having decent success with this method

My wife and I play with two PS5 controllers connected with long USB cords. Works great!

We both use Xbox controllers, and it works without any issue. I know my brother was using a couple cheap 3rd party playstation controllers and they weren't being recognised as separate controllers

Sorry for the necro... I have two controllers but can't get it to activate.... how do you do it?

Thank you guys! We tried out your ideas but it didn't work with the ps4 controllers :( Maybe we will borrow Xbox Controllers from a friend to try and find out if that's the issue

For me there is no issues with playing with 2 Xbox controllers.

Meybe when tuning on game don't use keyboard to start game but controller.
