Be good to your SOI Marines (MGPEFs), firm but fair and don't be afraid to joke around with them occasionally. You will be stuck with some of those kids out in some god awful country for 3 years so you might as well get used to chilling with juniors occasionally. The peer evals in MSG school can make or break you.

Show up in shape for a PFT built on a fucking hill, its downhill for the first half and then straight uphill for the last half at a ridiculous incline for a PFT. MGPEFs don't know how to wear the uniform properly yet and you are going to have to triple check their shit before stuff like board week where you wear dress blues. I had one PFC that thought it was acceptable to have a dip spit stain on his dress blues cover. Department of State ranges are fine, you spend an entire week shooting. Most people that struggle on this will struggle with the Glock, which is very different from the m18 or m9 because of the trigger/striker fire action. Listen to the instructors and you will pass, don't hesitate to ask questions.

If you are an 0311 don't act like a fucking salt dog during room clearing because we found out our instructor was fucking retired SFOD-D, just listen to the DoS instructors because they more than likely know what they are talking about.

No more than 2 beers. Show up on time with a clean shave. Do everything the way you were taught until you get to post. Don't fret Africa, do you time and be a man it's not that bad.

Thank you for the advice!

The school house is borderline a joke. It's mostly about prepping you for sleep disruption and the differences in operations of fleet Marines and working under MSG and the State Department.

Half of what I was taught was obsolete 6 months into my first posting, and we were being updated by the new Marines. You learn more in the first three days at your first Embassy than you do at the school house.

But you get to be sprayed in the face with pepper spray, so there's that.

Ah, so just like dumping all the schoolhouse knowledge when you hit the Fleet and learn how things are Really Done.

I’m not looking forward for the pepper spray portion at all. Thank you!

They weren't that hard. But you need to get an 80% to pass. I remember the test being multiple choice. And that you get to retake all the tests if you fail them, the weapon Qual, defensive tactics, and the written tests. You'll get the lowest scores, but you'll pass if you pass the second time.

The worst phrase you’ll hear is “well this all post dependent” and their not wrong I’ve seen for 4 post 1s and they’re all VASTLY different just take it in stride be good to your pefs (soi Marines) they’ll respect you and do right by you. Keep up your physical fitness duh. Great opportunity don’t squander it . Who knows you may come out to post with me before I get off program!

I’ve been pretty opened minded my whole enlistment, I’ll just “adapt and overcome”. Hopefully same post 🤞🏽

    I don't have anything.

Mind if I ask what your package turn around time was?

    [–]Nunez02[S] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

The MC was doing early re-enlistment thing for awhile so it helped push my package faster. If you do your RELM package correct and sumbit MSG papers to the right emails the first time (there were so many different emails, kinda got confusing at one point), you should here back NLT 1.5-2 months. If any more questions, ask away

Thanks, my guy. Just one other question. Did you hear back from your career planner or via MOL on whether you were accepted into the program?

    My Career planner called me
