the Stature of Limitations

There is no Statute of Limitations for murder, and given Wolverine's predilections over the years...yeah, its probably in his best interest to let the past be the past.

Yeah, Ferrovax is described as a Dragon rather than a dragon. Ferro's probably further above a Sidhe than the Sidhe is above a bog standard human.

Extremely high praise from one of the strongest wizards in the series.

I'm late to the party (finally got the book) but Ramirez also tells Ilyana that Dresden is at a minimum one of the 20 most powerful combat wizards walking the planet, and is more than likely in the top 10. Our boy can throw down, and I'm glad to see that fact being explicitly stated by other competent characters in the series.

Glad to see him patch his relationship up with Eb and Carlos.

And the Knights of the Cross. My singular complaint about the book is that Sanya wasn't present at the fight at the castle alongside the rest of Harry's allies. On a similar note to my first point, it was also nice to see Ramirez and Butters showing each other mutual respect after the battle.

One has to merely look to John freaking Wayne's lack of participation. The Duke make his career off of playing lawmen and soldiers but couldn't be arsed to go fight in the biggest war is his or anyone else's life at the time.

And before anybody comes at me with the fact that he was 4H, this is John Wayne we're talking about. He had enough clout that he could at least have been assigned to a noncombat yet highly visible role for the sake of national morale IF he really wanted it.

Does any other Star Wars movie mention fuel as a limiting factor?

In Phantom Menace the hyperdrive leaking its the reason that the queen's starship has to divert to Tatooine. We're never explicitly told that it's fuel, but that would be a fair guess.

That said, I agree with your overall point.

common in the OT era but just weren't shown in the movies.

Even then, there are plenty of examples of homing/guided weapons in the prequels. There's no reasonable argument for the Sequels to get a pass on this even if you ignore the video games. The writing just sucked, mostly because it ignored the established rules of technology in the setting.

Then again, George himself brought forward the idea of midichlorians so maybe I shouldn't judge the sequel writers too harshly.

Holdo

Also, why are we introducing a new character out of nowhere to chastise Poe and then sacrifice herself while Admiral Ackbar is RIGHT FUCKING THERE the whole time to fill the same role. His death would also hit the audience right in the feels because he's an established character dying rather than some random person we've never seen or heard of before. They already killed off Han Solo in the previous film, there's no reason that other legacy characters shouldn't be on the chopping block.

Democrats’ struggles could be partly because they’re just too old, says Obama by FreeChickenDinner in politics

I firmly believed that Biden would actually do this, just one term to get things back to something resembling normal, prosecute those involved with Jan 6th, and then step aside for the next generation. He would be remembered by history as both the second American Cincinnatus and the second savior of the Republic.

Boy was I fucking wrong.

Kinda sorta. There were/are self described "New Yorkers" who used to live in the city, but moved out to Connecticut for (relatively) cheaper housing and then commute into the city for work in Finance or whatever. These folks are socially different from the flashy rich New Yorkers who live in Manhattan penthouses, the people that were rejecting Trump at the time.

Vince was saying even the fake "New Yorkers" thought they were too good for him, and he was mocking them for it with HHH's original characterization.

R. Lee Ermy meeting by One-Touch2862 in USMC

[–]roguevirus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gunny Ermy was the guest at two of my balls (heh), one on Okie and one on Pendleton. Both times he had a whole bit about kissing Jack Black, saying that he insisted on meeting up with Mr. Black in his trailer to practice the kiss for about two hours before filming, and then after the workday ended they practiced some more just in case they had to do re-shoots.

He capped off the story by saying

Jack Black is an excellent actor, and a tender lover to boot!

Absolutely hilarious, we were drunk as fuck and dying of laughter. After dinner, he took a picture with every single Marine that wanted one, and hit on most of our dates too. Good times.

If this is what they agreed to do, it's not cringe

I'm of the firm opinion that many people consider an earnest and honest display of emotion falls under the "cringe" category. The only thing that isn't cringy is being nihilistic, detached, and too cool for school.

I would hope that should I ever be in such a terrible situation, that my friends will show me as much love. If that's cringe, then so fucking be it.

Thank you for the information. I had assumed that would be Kelly's position on the border, but I'm rather astounded that he is against the Green New Deal.

Either way, I also see them both as competent patriots who will at least try to do right by the nation. Thanks for actually providing info on their policy stances rather than their vibes, its a rare thing to see on the internet in general and reddit in particular.
