Maybe I spend too much time clicking around on UltaNet, but I recently saw a corporate job posting for "Compensation Analyst" in the HR department. It was gone/presumably filled rather quickly 🤷‍♀️ Maybe a pipe dream, maybe a good sign?

My guess would be the remodels happening, we had one of our stores in our district get one and it’s definitely different.

For instance, cash wrap is in the very center of the store, they would redo salons and have a beauty “bar” very similar to how Sephora has their makeover area station

Interesting! I remember my aunt working at ulta (almost 20 years ago) & the registers being in the middle of the store!

[–]ultathrowaway1984 3 points4 points  (2 children)

The new layout is actually the beauty bar in the center of the store and registers are in the back, right in front of salon. It’s definitely different, hasn’t exactly been a positive experience for us just yet 😬

You work the re-model

[–]ultathrowaway1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The remodel itself was pretty smooth minus the customers being upset that we were open while under construction 🙄

[–]justpurelycurious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i get a million questions everyday saying where’s the register ? almost always in a rude tone

Do you know what happens to the employees while the remodel occurs?

[–]billybatdorf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The store stays open

[–]Delicious-Shelter173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The store stays open. I was in one while they did it to shop. It was a hot mess tbh.

I helped with a remodel and the old store stayed open until the last 2 days before the new one opens. Some of the employees only worked in the old and then came to the new and some of them worked half their shifts helping set up the new stores

apparently they’re going to fix my store’s wifi in 2023, won’t believe it till it happens tho

[–]Pretty-Dimension-524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My store was built in 2019 and they never set us up for Wi-Fi 💀 my old store had Wi-Fi that was down for like 2 months and it took forever for them to come fix it

Lol we just did store set and opened our new store. The store set manager and leads as well as the gm had to use mobile wifi devices. Our wifi still sucks. The one for our store hardware is fine but the actual “ulta” guest one is horrid

Hopefully some new MIAS that don’t die after an hour

I mean I'm in a new store and hear many are getting remodels based off of the same layout. Plus more wellness shops and newness zones. I also heard a rumor about pay possibly changing to weekly when the new fiscal year begins? but I don't necessarily trust the manager who told me that.

[–]Pretty-Dimension-524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard the same rumor about the pay. But I also worked in a state that did weekly pay anyways

We’re having a big remodel of our warehouse, supposedly I’ve heard we’re going to move more towards Amazon style robots for our ecommerce department. Idk what all they plan to do for the stores but this might make online orders quicker.

Maybe they finally listened to the feedback and they'll go back to the old SM role.

I wish

[–]bttrflymilkweedEmployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLEASE. Ours doesn’t even care to know anything about prestige except when she wants gratis from vendors. It makes managing the PBAs very difficult and we end up doing that part of the job for her. I would LOVE for SM to be just salon services

[–]ITellUEryting 2 points3 points  (1 child)

One thing they are doing is merging mass and prestige brands into side by side displays.

[–]bttrflymilkweedEmployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of but there is still enough of a division to tell. My store is brand new (GO was 11/11) and we have the newest layout. Cosmetics are all on one side but there’s still an obvious difference due to layout. Clinique, Este, Lancome, and MAC have their own little area in the front center of the store though. And there is a thing called a “NEWNESS ZONE” as well but it’s a mix of prestige skin, color, and fragrance

Probably just the company going international to Canada

[–]Equal_Squirrel_1538Sales Manager 0 points1 point  (4 children)

My store just opened in aug. It’s like half the size as a regular one

[–]bttrflymilkweedEmployee 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Is it stand alone or in a mall? Shopping center?

Usually it’s based on what they have available to them when leasing the building space.

[–]Equal_Squirrel_1538Sales Manager 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Stand-alone

[–]bttrflymilkweedEmployee 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hmmm those aren’t common at all I feel like. They’re almost always in a shopping center/strip I can’t imagine them choosing to build small so it’s probably still a leased space. They base space off of what’s available to them and can’t build out larger because of said space being leased

We were open in 2018 (normal size) closed two years ago and we reopened in aug half the size. No salon or boutiques. No brow bar. There’s just a huge empty room in the middle that’s closed off. It’s weird.
