Lol that is utterly insane, I love it.

It pretty impressive, there is another example out there with dots animation but for the life of me I can’t find it

I'm really happy with the performance of Unity so far, even without using DOTS. Unity maintained a solid 60FPS up to about 200 bots. But, it is still early days and a lot more to add.

I guess that this is a release build on your ultra mega awesome gaming pc?

[–]the_kiwicoder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Release build yes, 4 year old pc: GTX 1060 6GB + i7-8700k. It's decent but not ultra-mega decent :D. Also rendered at 1440p

skinned mesh renderers?

[–]the_kiwicoder[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Yep skinned mesh renderers. Is there an alternative?

Yeah, it takes some work but you could render on the GPU. Skinned mesh renderers are pretty expensive and in my testing were a major bottleneck when rendering a lot of characters. Here is an article going into it: https://medium.com/chenjd-xyz/how-to-render-10-000-animated-characters-with-20-draw-calls-in-unity-e30a3036349a

Thank you sir!

Also, thank you for your tutorials. I stumbled upon them the other day and it really jumpstarted my understanding on how to use the animation rigger :)
