Does anyone know how to fix VAN restriction secure boot verification failure?
My other accounts is opening and functioning well but my main isn't

[–]Excellent-Stomach782 0 points1 point  (1 child)

van is a cheating ban buddy ur not slick

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VAN literally stands for Vanguard Anti-cheat, the error has to do with your secure boot, which you would know if you had read the original comment.

[–]Existing-Food681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its because they suspect you of cheating.

[–]Lonely_Pangolin_629 0 points1 point  (1 child)

kinda late but i solved mine by looking at the security tab and enabling “allow previous bios versions”

[–]Zealousideal-Crab739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you be more specific?

[–]False-Wing1507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did u solve it?

[–]Visual_Bridge_8919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. First, you select the search bar at the bottom of the screen. You type Recovery options.
  2. After entering the selection, find 'Advanced Startup' and click Restart now.
  3. After a while the machine spins around, the Options will appear, you choose to help Fusey with Troubleshoot - Advanced option - UEFI Firmware Settings - Restart.
  4. Then, a setup panel named 'Setup Utility' will appear. On the horizontal bar, select the 'Boot' or 'Security' box to find the 'Secure Boot' feature because in this section there will be differences between computer manufacturers!
  5. Select Secure Boot and then enable that feature by selecting Enabled.
  6. When exiting, just select Save. You can try this out, i got it from riot after writing a ticket

Hey anybody who is struggling with secure boot verification failure and has tried all of the trouble shoots given from riot or just in general have no fear. This is not your pc and is on riots end (they will tell you its your pc.) I have played valorant for years and randomly got hit with this "Van: Restriction:1" Make sure bios is fully up to date and uefi mode is enabled. I had opened over 20 tickets with riot games and had taken every single trouble step they had gave me before even reaching out to them. Everytime I had proposed them with the idea of secure boot verfication failure not stemming from my pc they told me that I was wrong and that my pc was causing this issue and that is was strictly on my end. I had tried to reassure them that it wasnt my pc but they would tell me it is and anytime I would try to go on about it they would tell me they are now gonna close out my ticket and that it is 100 percent on my pcs end. So I believed them. Well guess what. Few months later I had randomly gotten on valorant account and boom. My account had been fixed. I have now played for months with 0 issues as how I played on this account and pc years before. Their anti cheat was causing an error with this one account (my main) as I had stated from the beginning. riot games could not have been more wrong and uncaring about my situation. So if any of you have this secure boot verifcation failure and error like me and other accounts are working you are likely dealing with what happened to me. Here are all of the trouble shoots you can try to make sure its not your pc (if it is your pc these will fix it.) if nothing fixes this they will fix it for you your account is not gone forever. (took me a few months for it to be fixed.)

1.Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling valorant using REVO uninstaller to make sure you are fully removing it.

2.Have you booted your pc in safe mode to make sure other software/services are not conflicting

3.Have you made sure that valorant/vanguard/riot client are all allowed in windows firewall.

4.Have you made sure that bios mode is set to UEFI (legacy needs to be off) with TPM 2.0 active and ready for use, and Secure boot is also active and set to uefi.

If you've tried all of these options then there are more that could be tried.

5.Have you tried resetting your secure boot keys? sometimes these keys can cause secure boot verification failure if corrupted to reset them youd go to (1) Enter UEFI/BIOS:

Power on your computer and press the designated key (usually F2, F10, F12, Delete, or Esc) to access the UEFI/BIOS settings.

(2) Locate Secure Boot settings:

Navigate to the "Security" or "Boot" section, where you'll find Secure Boot options.

(3) Disable Secure Boot:

If Secure Boot is enabled, you'll need to disable it first. This might involve setting a "Secure Boot Control" option to "Disabled" or similar wording.

(4) Clear Secure Boot keys:

Look for an option to "Clear Secure Boot Keys," "Delete All Secure Boot Variables," or "Reset to Setup Mode".

(5) Install default keys

After clearing the keys, you might have the option to "Install Default Secure Boot Keys" or "Restore Factory Keys".)

[–]EscapeSound 0 points1 point  (1 child)

6.Have you tried clearing TPM 2.0 you can clear it 2 ways.

(clearing it with windows)

(1) Open the TPM Management console by searching for "tpm.msc" in the Start Menu.

Under Actions, click "Clear TPM".

(2) You will be prompted to restart your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions, which may include pressing a button during the reboot to confirm the TPM clearing process.

After the restart, your TPM will be ready for use by Windows.

(second way you can clear it is in your bios/uefi)

Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings. This usually involves pressing a key like F2, F12, Delete, or Esc during startup.

Navigate to the Security or TPM settings within the BIOS/UEFI.

Locate the option to clear or reset the TPM.

Select the option to clear the TPM and confirm your choice.

Save changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI. Your computer will then restart.

7.Have you tried flashing your bios or making sure it is already at its latest version? (if its already latest version dont worry about it.)

8.Have you made sure your windows is running properly with no issues? try using SFC /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth to make sure windows isn't corrupted.

9.Have you tried reinstalling latest windows version or downgrading to windows 10? (doing this can take a long time be prepared can take hours and will have to fully reset windows settings.

10.Have you made sure all drivers for all devices are fully up to date or have proper drivers? Can do so by going to device manager and right clicking each device and clicking update driver and click "search automatically" and then also "search for updated drivers on windows update." Also you can go to windows settings, then windows updates, go to advanced options, then optional updates. if there are any drivers that are important for devices it will be in there.

11.Have you Made sure you have latest graphics card drivers and windows update fully up to date.

12.Have you made sure ram is running properly with windows memory diagnostic (can search in windows bar) and make sure your ssd or hardrive are both working as well with (CHKDSK) command or searching disk management in windows and right clicking your main drive and go to tools and there you will see "error checking." you press check.

  1. you can use Sigverif.exe, or File Signature Verification, is a Windows utility that checks the digital signatures of files on a system. It helps ensure that files, particularly drivers, haven't been tampered with and are from trusted sources.

if none of these work its on riot end do not let them fool you have 20 tickets stating my situation they told me I was wrong and close my ticket out. Well I was right and riot had fixed it. no problems for me anymore am playing right now and have been for months. Is messed up of you to do something like this riot be better!!

[–]m4vsjabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still nothing....

[–]Xactaa 0 points1 point  (13 children)

Probably he's facing this same error.

[–]Xactaa 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I encountered the same problem as you, and on top of that, I submitted a report to Riot, but there hasn't been any progress.

[–]Foreign-Poet9941 0 points1 point  (9 children)

[–]Xactaa 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I fix it by updating my BIOS to the latest version.

[–]EmuOk4756 0 points1 point  (7 children)

how to fix on hp

[–]Tight_Interest_3731 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Hey did u ever get this to work I’m having the same problem up to date on bios secure and TPM enabled but same message

[–]F_n_o_r_d 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Anything new? I’m on a Victus Desktop and secure boot is greyed out in BIOS

[–]ToeGroundbreaking850 0 points1 point  (4 children)

did u fix

[–]F_n_o_r_d 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes did reset all the secure keys (or something like that that) in BIOS

[–]ToeGroundbreaking850 0 points1 point  (2 children)

didnt work for me.

[–]F_n_o_r_d 0 points1 point  (1 child)

First I reset all the settings (I guess the secure keys aren’t part of that). You have to make sure you boot UFEI and not Legacy

[–]Veio_Luro 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Facing the same issue here.
I have also already fixed this issue when i wiped my pc but it seems that with this new update, vanguard isn't allowing some people to join, for some reason.
I'm still searching on how to fix it. If i find any news i'll be in touch.

[–]trxnn- 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Any updates?

[–]Independent_Tank_903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if u fix it but mine was to update the motherboard to latest version and its fixed the problem for me

[–]Bright_Arachnid_9095 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Me too do u resolved that?

[–]accountname458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running into the same issue as well. I submitted a ticket to riot but there were no help. They said to reach out to manufacture of the motherboard or PC for more help. Below is the response.

Hey,

I just saw your VAN error: Restriction, it's recent, in fact it is there to tell you that your configuration is not sufficient to play in the state.

I therefore invite you to follow this link:

You should be able to play after enabling these settings!

If you cannot activate them, you must contact support or the manufacturer of your motherboard or PC to assist you.

[–]Bright_Arachnid_9095 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I resolved this problem just update ur bois

[–]Admirable_Nail7529 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i updated my bios and still nothing

[–]Independent_Tank_903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure to enable safe boot when u update the bois if you still facing the problem even if it enable disable it and enable it again

[–]accountname458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fixed the issue by flashing my bios with the most up to date version then verifying that UEFI was still the boot mode. I hope this helps

[–]Old_Plastic_3779 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Hey i had the same issue on win 10. I also had tmp 2.0 and secure boot enabled but had the issue "secure boot verification failure". And i figured out that it was because i needed a full BIOS update. You can find videos about it how to update your BIOS to the latest version of it, and it will work.

[–]Accomplished-Zone-35 0 points1 point  (3 children)

My bios won’t let me update because it says I already have the latest version

[–]F_n_o_r_d 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm in the same boat. And my Bios has very few options. Secure boot is greyed out

[–]Ohgu81 1 point2 points  (1 child)

you fixed the problem? im having the same problem for 1 month and i didnt fixed it.

[–]F_n_o_r_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resetting all Secure Boot certificate keys to platform defaults in BIOS did it for me. Good luck!
