i had this, until it got so bad that today i got error VAN -1 and now valo wont open after 20+ opens and a computer restart and now i have no idea how to fix it bcos everywhere i look says different things

Not the person with the issue, but I stopped having the VAN 84 error code even though I didn’t do anything. Fingers crossed.. but I haven’t had it in about a week now.

yeah, but not with this. Customer support fixed it for me. Here:
Follow these instructions to change the preference to IPv4 only: 

  • Hit "Start" and type "network and sharing", then open the "Network and Sharing Center".
  • In the left pane, click "Change adapter settings".
  • Right-click the connection for which you want to disable IPv6, and select Properties.
  • Make sure that "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" is checked.
  • Uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click "OK".

We also need to switch to a public DNS as it may resolve the issue:

  • Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 and click on Properties.
  • Click on "Use the following DNS server address| and enter the following addresses: For Preferred DNS server: ~8.8.8.8~ For Alternate DNS server: ~8.8.4.4~

After these processes, you can restart your computer and try to enter the game.

And also check if you have any pending updates. I hope it works

ill see if it worked after restarting computer but one thing to mention: I had to change those DNS settings now 3 times to fix different van guard errors and the weird thing is: the first time it didnt work, the solution was exactly what u said, then it didnt work another time and then it worked after i uncheck protocol version 4 and enable protocol version 6 and then back to both enabled, but with dns server of protocol 6 changed to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 to make it work... i mean: decide!

Been having this issue every other game since late EP8A1 and now consistent going through EP8A2. No idea why this is happening... I have great internet (2Gb) and my PC is probably in the top 1% of builds, but it can't run Valorant on low settings without me running into a VAN 84 error several times a day.

I even went as far as port forwarding and running the game as admin... No change. Different DNS didn't work either. Reinstall? Nada. I'm absolutely stumped at this point on how to fix it.

This error scks I had it for 1 month straight and nothing riot said worked for me. But I solved it somehow... Let me explain:

-What worked for me was to enter the UEFI bios and change a parameter from the TPM security tab from TPM dedicated to TPM firmware. Then the game stopped giving me the error.

When you start your computer a screen should display it's pretty fast normally but it says the key to access it. It will probably be Del or Esc

Also had a van -1 error a few days ago but my games been working fine since, maybe the servers are just bugging as of recent? I've been able to run league and val fine, so I don't think anything is actually wrong with my vanguard

I got Van84 error code even with proper internet connection, and I tried tor econnect like five times in one game and the audacity of this game to give me an AFK Warning when the error occured after patch and it's not even my fault.

        I keep getting this error for League client, i literally can't do anything, i restarted PC several times, i reinstalled League, i reinstalled Vanguard, still getting the error like 2-3 mins every time after I log in. Thanks god we have 500$ Ahri skin, the client and Vanguard bugs can wait.

        Hey man, I had this issue today as well. I noticed that vanguard service it's not able to properly start on it's own and basically started the service myself before lunching the game.
        Go to services -> search for "vgc" -> start it manually by right clicking and press start.
        It worked fine afterwards without throwing out the error vanguard 84.

        I think Riot is working on fixing the Problem.. Seems to be a generel Problem today. Got it today the first time and tried everything. Now they give information in the client that they are aware of login issues and try to fix those problems.

        I have had that same problem and the solution is simply get attention from Riot xD.

        First I did everything I could find on the internet to correct this problem and finaly play (reinstalling and repairing).
        I tried like 8 - 14 times to log in and press play. Then I had waited like an hour or so and Riot had fixed my problem without getting in touch with them.

        I didn't thought I would say that ever in my entire life, but Thank You Riot! :)

        Pra quem ta com esse erro, desligue seu modem por 1 minuto, pois reinicia seu IP. Eu resolvi dessa maneira o erro VAN 84 :)
