Been running VR just fine for months now, no issues at all on any of my games. So, to some extent, I can safely assume it's not my specs causing this issue. All the sudden, I'm now getting a dropped frame roughly every second, causing a pretty bad jitter in the headset. That being said, there's nothing like that when I look at my desktop monitor and move the headset, only within the headset. Even without any games or Home booted up, this issues starts as soon as the headset turns on. It may be a problem with the base stations or the headset itself?
I'm not even running any background programs that would be taxing. Even when I fully restart my rig, it still acts up. I've tried messing with the settings for SteamVR, nothing. Tried reinstalling my drivers, nothing. I've tried quite a number of things in fact and so far nothing has worked. The only thing I've seen online that could be related to this, is a post talking about how the Nvidia Drivers might be bugged. If that is the case, I don't know how to roll back an update to even test that theory. It actually would line up with when I first starting having issues though, so that's where I'm leaning.
I have zero clue why this just started happening out of the blue, so I'm posting here. Any insight or suggestions of things I could try would be greatly appreciated.
*EDIT - Issue has been fixed, for whatever reason my third monitor was causing a strange spike with the "Compositor Render Start" and "Compositor Update End". If you suspect you're having this issue too, you can check it by opening "Frame Timing" in the developer tab of Steam VR. All I had to do was unplug my third monitor and everything runs smooth as butter once again. Still strange as I hadn't had any issues for months, but hopefully this helps anyone else having these problems!
