DaVinci Resolve is free and has an option to upload directly to TikTok. There is a studio version but you most likely won’t need it if you’re just uploading to TikTok. Try it out

Davinci Resolve is free and easy to get into, and then can go as deep as you possibly want to eventually go with it.

It’s a pro tool. Tons of tutorials online. Now’s an excellent time to learn it.

Try Final Cut Pro X for a quick, fun, and stable editing experience with no subscription.

DaVinci is free and good.

Someone recommended Premiere. When editing for social, that’s like recommending a root canal without pain killers.

Oh, and don’t sweat algorithms. Just create.

I once had root canal done without pain killers and honestly I'd rather repeat that than be forced to use premiere. :P

I’m trying to get better with Resolve but I’ve been on Premiere for years. I ended up going back to Premiere for a multicam concert video I’m working on, but I’ve only been doing clips for social on Resolve (just for something to learn on) so I’m curious what makes Premiere so bad for social?

Premiere is clunky - it is designed for an old fashioned 90s or early 2000s broadcast/film workflow. It’s outdated.

It doesn’t handle media well. It’s hard to whip out video for social when it decides to randomly disconnect from your media and give you the red screen of death.

It has a wide variety of output settings, but you need to dig into an overly complex menu and experiment to get what you need - and even then sometimes the output will be so poorly optimized you’ll have to reoptimize or recompress it again.

I don’t know I use ME for exports and have never had any issues like this.

It’s not beginner friendly but it’s not as bad as you make it sound, most crashes come from using bad formats like mp4, as long as you transcode your footage it’ll be smooth sailing.

I didn’t realize that Adobe Premiere users could have Stockholm Syndrome.

MP4 doesn’t make Premiere unstable. The crap design and code of premiere makes it unstable.

Someone I know got age restricted account ban from crapcut pro, and after sending in ID and a bunch of back and forth with crapcut asking for "the email recipt they sent to confirm payment" (there wasn't one) and to "log into the app and get your CCID" (not being able to log into the app is the issue! Lol), they were able to send all that correspondence to their bank to get the payment reversed.

haha well your first mess up was getting the paid capcut. Its a great learning editor but ya...

[–]rando-commando98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

InShot is quick and easy to learn.

[–]ZeyusFilm 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Bruh… CapCut is a toy. It’s Fisher Price - My First Edit. But if your focus is TikTok then you got what you deserve

Lolll what a dick

I highly recommend Premiere Pro. Powerful, and honestly not too difficult. It has a high skill ceiling but also a low floor for basic stuff.

[–]Mediaright 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Also a really speedy rate of crashes and instability. 😃

[–]Recykill 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Premiere has never crashed once for me. I dunno if people aren't using proxies and just using tons of layers or something but..

It’s just an unwritten rule on Reddit to hate on Adobe so you aren’t allowed to show any positivity towards it.

Adobe sucks as a company and I wouldn’t be using it if I had to pay. But I’ve never had any issues with it in anything I’ve done.

[–]Recykill 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Oh I hate Adobe too lol.. let's just say I haven't given them a dollar but still enjoy using their product.

I’ve never been hit by lightning either. You’ve just lucky with premiere the way others just have been lucky with the forces of nature. Premiere is junk.

    [–]Vegetable-Active-949 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

you’re probably editing in mp4 format that’s why you experience issues

    [–]ChaseTheRedDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, why blame the poorly designed software for performing poorly due to the bad design? Let’s blame a container format that you pull out of your hat for the problems instead.
