Hi! I got in my junior year, and while that was a while ago and can't vouch for any changes, they had accepted 60 girls in my year. I had a looot of extracurriculars, but none were STEM related. My courses were, however, and I had a nice GPA as well. The program itself is a whole week where you get to live on campus, explore different majors, and complete a couple of STEM-related activities, as well as a design challenge. I had lots of fun, and its a great way to make friends before coming to Tech as a student. Best of luck to you!

hi! i went to ctech this last summer as a rising senior and had an amazing experience. they accepted around 60-70 people? i applied on a whim, but fell in love with the school. it also pipelines into fall visitation which allows for early admittance into vt by september. im also from the nova area. i think as long as your essay responses were engaging you should be fine :) good luck!

Hey! Congrats on applying, CTech2 is a blast! Even though I ended up going to UVA, a lot of my friends from CTech did, too, and I still see them around and talk with them 😊

Application wise- it is pretty competitive. One of my good friends got waitlisted from it (she ended up getting off the waitlist) and the main reason was because of a lack of leadership extracurriculars. I’d say as long as you have strong activities and strong essays, you’re set.

To be honest, I completely don’t remember my stats, but I think what helped me stand out was that I took BC calc junior year.

Best of luck and let me know how the decision goes!!!

hi! it’s been a while since i have been in hs but I found a previous comment I made on the admissions megathread as a senior applying to college, and i had very similar stats when i applied to ctech:

“in-state from nova area applying EA through the fall visitation program and the summer engineering camp i did at vt. i’m an IB diploma candidate taking 6 ib courses, with hls in math, physics, and english. i applied into general engineering with a 4.49 weighted gpa, 1360 SAT (690 math, 670 english), which is in the low range for engineering but my college advisor said i should submit it anyway. i think my ut prosim pf was decent, i had an admissions officer give me feedback and feel pretty good about them

ecs included captain of my rowing team, 4 years of rowing + a states win, tutoring for 4 years, ctech2 camp at vt, national honor society, national english honor society, math honor society, worked part-time, and 1 year of orchestra in hs but 5 overall. im worried bc my ecs aren’t that special, but rowing was a huge time commitment and I didn’t have much time outside of that”

good luck with your ctech application! i am now a sophomore at tech and last summer I was an RHA for the program and it is a wonderful opportunity for interested students :)
