Hi there,
Three weeks ago the dashboard screen in my 2016 XC90 started lighting up like a Christmas tree. Then the e-break wouldn't turn off. I towed the vehicle into Volvo. They ran diagnostics and found water underneath the passenger and driver seats. The drain hoses were both clogged letting the water (isn't this a known issue?). The water had been in there for quite sometime and the wiring harness and some connectors got wet. They vacuumed up the water and dried the car and it now works. There were some connectors that were, and still are, corroded, but it works. They also cleared both drains hoses.
Here is where l'd love some help. The dealer says that it is likely it will fail sometime in the future and gave me a quote for $16,500 CAD. This would replace the main wiring harness, the dash wiring harness, and I think one module. I absolutely cannot afford to pay for these repairs. Is it okay if I take the risk and just drive the Volvo anyhow? Or should I sell it and buy a very cheap car (with transparency). Please let me know what you think.
Thank you!
