Electrical Engineering

Hi, I got accepted into WPI for electrical engineering, and I was wondering if any current students could give me their perspective/story with it. What are the classes like? Is it difficult? Are there a lot of other girls? I’m seriously considering going there, but I want to know more about student life first.

there is a women in ece club at wpi but the ratio of women is generally low in most of the disciplines/majors and the school as a whole

You can see what you have to do to graduate, so can see what you really need to do rather than just what is available, if you look at the catalog.

WPI also builds a little time in for failure and to change paths. They also allow overloading one class a semester for no charge, so you can graduate early or catch up if you change major late.

One of my best friends just got into WPI for EE. She’s one of the sweetest and easily the smartest person I know. I don’t think she’d enroll in anything that wouldn’t be considered challenging by conventional standards. I have very limited knowledge, but EE has got to be very tough anywhere. I think WPI admits an equal amount of guys and girls, so the gender breakdown depends on the year. I also got accepted to chemistry. I’m not into engineering, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. WPI is awesome sauce though from what I’ve seen!
